I was messing around with some older files, and it struck me that the last time I'd shot any landscape, whatsoever, was this last February. Since then it's been nothing but food/product shots that don't really have a place on this board.
What was special about this for me is that although I'm at Yosemite quite frequently, esp. in Winter, I only rarely seem to get that classic weather nexus of high mist and moderate wind that make for shadow and light play on the various granite faces and facets.
I have some others taken maybe 4-5 minutes later that are utterly and totally different than this one.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful image. I love the contrast between the stone face of El Capitan; which conveys strength and permanence. The ephemeral clouds try to mist and obscure and diminish the might of the mountain. Yet the mountain stands strong and does not yield.
The black and white tones on the mountain are simply stunning.
