I really love it when things happen to come together without a lot of planning. I headed out to the badlands on a new moon a few weeks back to try and hone my MW skills. Just after I set up and clicked the shutter for a test exposure, I looked behind me and saw this incredible sight.

Well done, Gary!
Thanks. This is exactly what I love about the badlands - it makes me feel as if I am on another planet. In the past year, I have gone more times to this area than the mountains. It is getting more crowded though and the conservation officers are being quite picky with people staying out past 11pm.
Sometimes we are rewarded for our hard work at other times..nada....you were! Fantastic image!

"There was a time when the land that is now the Badlands was a high plain covered in the greenest and richest of grasses and the animal people lived there in great numbers.
