That's awesome news Fred! I've had my eye on this one for a while now, especially after recently returning four copies of the Roki 14mm since I couldn't find a copy that matched the Canon adapted 14mm that I sadly lost in the fall. Hopefully this 15/2 is a real performer.

I am interested in this lens as well. I'm hoping it will be a great lens for nightscapes.

Yep this one fascinates me, and I have no real idea what to expect. It could be not great, or it could be absolutely awesome. A pity that it has seven aperture blades. On the one hand they aren't Zeiss; on the other hand the mirrorless advantage with wides, and few years advance in technology means that it's not impossible it'll be Z* 15mm distagon good from f 4 or so. Or not. Fascinating! Especially as I have nothing between 10 and 18 at the moment, having divested waiting for the new crop.....

Yeap. If this lens has low coma at f/2.8 and is sharp across the field starting at f/4, it will be a great addition to Sony shooters.

They have to be pretty confident in their product (or at least that one review copy) to ask you of all people to review that lens, Fred
Looking forward to your tests. This may well be the best compact solution for wide field astro on the a7 series yet.

I have nothing between 12 and 25 so my radar is in full force.

Wish someone has the Firin 20 to test
There was a post recently of a few pics with the Firin. It seemed to show a lot of CA in the corners wide open. I'll try to find the post but it didn't seem to be up to Loxia 21 quality.

I wonder how Bulls**t their MTFs are? Their infinity MTF shows it, at wide open f2, as better than the Distagon 15 ZF at all frequencies at f2.8! And better still at f2.8...
The extent I find difficult to believe; but at least even if its calculated it's not like the Sony MTFs which leave out diffraction effects at small apertures, because they only show f2 and 2.8.
The graph also shows very little astigmatism.
But their charts could be significantly off, and it still be as good as the Distagon, and that's plenty good enough for me: and it's more compact and faster.
This is either going to be a big disappointment, or pretty thrilling. And seven blades, well I prefer 10, but seven is my next choice (though the sunstars on the Laowa 12 were only OK, and likely it will share the same mechanism...
Oh there is a thread here for this lens. I'm planning to get a A7R2 and this lens is on my list. I found they posted some samples of this lens and would like to share it with you. Seems not too bad.

I did a google translate on user laowa's reply, and he says something like, "This FE15mmF2.0 is not currently available and is expected to meet with everyone in May 17".

Yes, I can confirm your translation is correct, guess that's the final test for the engineering sample and will start production soon.
Looking forward to your test Fred. We have 3 wides coming that could be good for astro (15 f2, Sigma 14 1.8 Art, Samyang XP 14 2.4), and, at least for FE shooters, this is the most interesting.
