Just as a example I had this lens on a IQ 160 in a tech cam I could actually shift this a full 20mm right and left. It a big image circle of 115
Schneider Apo-Digitar 5.6 / 60mm 115 62
IQ 160 is a full frame digital back. The Fuji is smaller so maybe to do a shift on the same format size 44x33 like some of the same CMOS chip you may only need 100 to stitch 20mm either. This is a huge stitch BTW
So not doing the Math here but if you could get 90 out of a Canon T/S we maybe okay

And evidently shows that FF glass can be put to use even if it doesn't cover the full 44 x 33. Particularly noting how much we routinely throw away from the native 3:2 format to achieve a different desired final format.
Personally, I'm fond of the 4:3 format, so it's golden for that with larger IC glass, but even @ reduced 4:3 to accommodate standard FF 3:2 IC, you're still (albeity slightly) larger (i.e. at least not smaller) than FF ... although I think there would be plenty of FF glass that could allow for a bit more than that as well.
919mm^2 = 35 x 26 = 43.7 diagonal
I didn't do the numbers for 4:5 (8 x 10), but the story assuredly repeats itself to a degree.

I never thought 3:2 was a really good format to become the de facto standard but the digital shift was fast and chaotic. I really like this new miniMF format. I imagine we'll be seeing a lot of 1:1 coming out of these new camera's

Love the idea of mechanical+electronic, assuming that means you get the full range of exposure times. Anything that can be done with the MS (1/4000 and slower) is, higher speeds with the ES.

Is that the APO ASPH version? It's already more costly in R form than M... definitely not a bargain in either mount. The non-ASPH might be a different matter.
Non-APO. I have no idea if the APO version will cover it.
I sold off my 90AA a long time ago, kinda regret doing so. I liked it a hair better then the 90APO-M. Though more to do with feeling in hand then anything. And the fact that the 90 FL is really quite a difficult one on RF cameras.

Base ISO is 100. Maybe just preproduction firmware.
Also, we see plenty of sensors with stated ratings ... that actually perform @ lower ISO ratings when tested (and a few that are spot on or higher). We'll have to see if they stick with 100, and how true that really holds.
With 100 on the dial, I realize that there are only so many values on the dial to choose from, so maybe they could go lower via menu selection and/or lower via faux firmware selections.

I know it's contentious (and I'll not pollute this thread with my opinion) but my real curiosity is if Fuji continues the x-trans in future ASP-C bodies. I could see it going either way. Fuji could go bayer by establishing some consistency between lines. Obviously, with the XA-1 and now GFX 50S, Fuji has established that IQ with a Bayer is entirely possible (and I think necessary) for many.
But they could also leave it as it serves a lower end of the market, it's an emblem of that line (however debatable). It would be wonderful if they offered both, but I doubt this. ...Show more →
After shooting x-trans sensor cameras for about four years a) I'm not convinced that the x-trans pattern makes a significant positive effect or b) hurts anything.
I wouldn't mind if they just moved to the traditional Bayer pattern.

I love it for a different reason: it looks like the Hasselblad 500 C/M replacement model.
Does anyone know if it will be possible to buy the GFX 50S in this configuration (i.e. without the viewfinder)?
Apparently yes:
"Basically, the GFX 50S body comes in five different sizes: no EVF, standard EVF, tiltable EVF, standard EVF with BG, and tiltable EVF with BG. Fujifilm promises a price way below 10,000 USD for the body with a standard prime lens. The GFX 50S will be available in spring 2017."

Excellent! Thank you. I read the article but somehow missed that info. The 45/2.8 lens I'd want to use with a GFX 50S in 1:1 mode doesn't ship until late 2017 so that gives me plenty of time to raise the cash.

Agreed. Just wish it didn't mess with the work flow for no real advantage.
