I think the APS-C and miniMF pairing of formats was a really smart strategy as well. It allows them to skip the crowded FF market for the high end and the APS-C market is a larger market and yields significant size & cost benefits. Yeah I also respect the two iconic filmmakers as well, we always speculated that we thought at most one of the two would survive the digital transition and be healthy again. Fujifilm certainly seems healthy and back to their innovative ways. My Dad also loved Fuji glass as well

I agree !! You do not want to compete in the FF market now, as even Nikon and Canon are catch up mode now. Sony has done a favor to the market as they have thrown the gauntlet and the FF technology is moving at fast pace.

Personally my investment in FF bodies and lenses, will equate to the same as having an XT2 and a Fuji mini MF with 2 lenses. This makes for a very attractive proposition for me, and I do love the Fuji glass too.

The registration's a tiny bit longer than I wanted, but I can work with it and, unless I'm misreading the information available, we've got a focal plane shutter. The optional EVF looks solid mounted to the camera and I like that it's flexible. Buttons, buttons, buttons! As long as there's an option to shoot without a recognized lens, I am very interested.

And if as I have mentioned, the camera will also be able to be adapted to either the Cambo Actus or Cambo Actus DB2 and can be used with other maker's MF lenses, I would have quite an assortment of the latest Rodenstock and Schneider Apo Enlarger lenses, large format lenses, and Leica R lenses (including my R 28mm f2.8 Super Angulon PC) and accessories that could be used with the camera.

+1 @ unrecognized lenses ... I've got a small collection of MF / MF glass ... but nothing like that 32-64 or 23 would be.

I'm betting, so long as Fuji allows for it, Cambo will make it happen. It's got plenty of room around the mount for shifting.

Yeah, I'm ignoring the lenses for now, but I was happy to see Fuji got it right. I think the 63 is going to be a little longer than people would like until they adjust to it, but it does give good separation between the 45 and 110.

Kujos to Fuji !! They have presented the min MF body with VF options and a serious array of lenses which may be all we ever need. Fuji understand that presenting the camera body is only part of the system, and having small/concise array of lenses is equally important.

I just hope the size and weight is similar to what I estimated

The thing disappointing me about the X1D as well as the GFX is that the lenses are pretty narrow aperture. In some cases more so than lenses from the 645 days (though I realize many of those may not hold up to the current 50-100 megapixel sensors). Given that 44x33 is a fairly moderate size for medium format, I was thinking we might see max apertures a little closer to FF35.

Yeah and perhaps later they could create a separate OVF module and even other specialized VF's for people with more specific shooting needs. Regarding the weight I've seen 800g mentioned somewhere so I think you are in the ballpark with your estimates

I agree where Hassy is concerned, but Fuji did much better, and I'm sure neither of them are done yet.

Reminds me exactly of when Sony released the a7/a7r

WL chimney-type finder with a 4:3 LCD at its heart? That'd be pretty cool.

Adam have you tried the X-Pro 2? May be more to your taste (as well as having the joystick in a good place). It's a simpler camera and suits me quite nicely.

I have played with the X-Pro1 but not the X-Pro2. I'll take your advice and play with it a bit.

I think that this new system will have a trickle down effect for the enthusiasm for the current offerings as well. Kinda like the tide that floats all Fuji boats.
I believe that this shows how Fuji is serious. It shows how Fuji is looking far down the road. It shows how dynamic a company Fuji is. And - it shows I have not got a large enough bank account!

Ok wait two weird things..

One I hate those strap lugs. They're terrible and in my experience less safe.

Second the hot shoe on top looks like a cold shoe. And that would mean bad flash compatibility and also I guess since I don't see metal contacts that the EVF is a bluetooth or wireless of some sort. Maybe lag issues?

But if those are my only complaints I guess I'm putting in my pre-order
The 63/2.8 could be faster by a stop but I'm really only looking forward to trying that 110/2.

I have my doubts I'll like the colors as much as I do with the S-006. But at least I can move away from Leica which is my goal here.

And I don't mind the sensor since it's the same I've used before in other cameras.

24 by 36, not 32. 1291/864, 1.49, I'll spot you the 0.1.

Right?

Looks like the there are three dots at the back of the hot shoe?

Wow, it's like Contax and Fuji merged, ID-wise. Hell yes to high-quality tactile input!

Well, I don't know about "much" better, but they certain did "better."

63/2.8 is much much better than Hasselblad having no standard lens
110/2 is much better than 90/3.5
but
45/2.8 is not enormously better than 45/3.5
23/4 is arguably about even with 30/3.5
32/4 using the zoom is probably a little worse than 30/3.5

As for neither of them being done yet, I'm sure there will be other focal lengths coming (30/2.8 or 30/3.5 from Fuji seems likely, Hasselblad will want a ~60), but I'm not imagining these systems having the volume to justify multiple speed options at each focal length. Even in the medium format heydey we saw very little of that (Mamiya 80's being perhaps the only exception). Maybe I'll be proven wrong though.

The shoe's hot. You can see it in this video...

He uses a flash trigger on it throughout and you can see the contacts when it's off.
