Pardon me as I think this is likely already answered somewhere but i noticed that this sensor is a lot smaller than typical 6x[4.5,6,7] film size. Which format is it closest to in representation.

All the rumors say no X-Trans. I guess Fuji realize the professional market will not put up with that nonsense.

The dark blue format labeled "Sony MF":

It's the same sensor found in the H6D-50c, Pentax 645z, Hasselblad X1D, Phase One IQ350, Hasselblad CFV-50C. It's hard to make large sensors, and very very expensive. I see a big difference in quality when I jump from APS-C to FF, and you will see a similar quality boost from FF to this. Some of course won't be able to see the differences or won't care about them, same as always.

That lens lineup. Fuji really knows how to do a release. I was hoping for three lenses. 6! Wow.

Yeah, that's really great. IMHO, even if the lenses take a while to trickle out, knowing what you'll be able to get would make a big difference in trying to decide if this new system made sense for me.

Agreed about the lenses...having ultrawide to portrait lengths covered at launch, with a good selection of primes and a nice wide to standard zoom is a great starting point. Still too rich for my blood, but it's cool that the focal plane shutter will allow for adapting other lenses.

Still a bit out of my price range, and probably a minor improvement on the better FF systems, but good to have options. I wonder what the lens prices will be. The nice thing over the X1D, aside from a potential price advantage, is that with the focal plane shutter instead of leaf shutter, lenses of similar size will be faster on the Fuji. The lens lineup looks to be a big advantage for the Fuji.

Exactly. It is a shame though that the GF45mmF2.8 R WR” (equivalent to 35mm in 35mm format) will the last of them to hit market. The most versatile focal length IMO, but the 'masses' want their 50mm equivalent first, so what can you do.

Anyone else notice that the EVF is removable? Sounds like Fuji will have a tiltable EVF you can replace the stock EVF with. I wonder if they'll come out with a waist level finder of some kind.

Anyone have the thickness specs on the Fuji vs the Hassey?

The Fuji looks chunky as mentioned above.

This is most exciting introduction over past 3 years to me.

It will be cheaper than Hasselblad for sure. and unless you plan to go full in, having another system, without capability to adapter other lens is a NO GO for me.

I will avoid entering close end system if I could especially for niche luxury brand. Leica S is one of examples.

Knowing Fuji, I am sure they will make this right. They are very right about shutter shock of mirror if they don't pay special attention that Leica S didn't but Canon and Nikon new FF camera did. With mirrorless and short flange distance and 4X3 format, this is a great system for people expand their gear.

And I like the traditional look better than X1D concept camera like as well. so, I don't think it has real competitors for now in the same price point and offer (size, weight, sensor, price and lens speed)

Well, Leica I think anticipated this to some degree and eventually released a number of adapters for other MF brands lenses... Will be interesting to see if Fuji does this, but I doubt it. Rather, they will leave it for 3rd party adapters, as they generally did for the X system.

But bottom line is Fuji is doing more of a 'Sony' by not blocking the possibility of adapting other lens lines to their new system, unlike Hasselblad.

FWIW, I don't think Fuji will pull a Samsung and suddenly bail, but in the MF segment, I don't believe there is as much guarantee any 'new' system will endure long-term because it's a much more niche market. Fuji will have to be very price competitive and hope they can divert some from FF.

From my point of view, already being deeply invested in FF, this system has little IQ appeal. I'd want a significantly larger than FF ('true' MF) sensor, but price of such systems is a major deterrent. I see this as a logical move for some from APS-C or smaller systems.

I think they made the right choice to go MF instead of FF. FF and APS-C is so close that people may not want to own two different systems of lenses. For those owning Fuji X APS-C, I can now see a reason to also acquire their MF system, if they have the means. It may also tempt some Sony users to switch to Fuji. I shoot Sony right now, and it's a little more difficult to also add a system that is only 2x the size of FF. A Fuji owner can get a fast focusing X-T2 for travel and walkaround and a Fuji MF for important shots. This Fuji MF to their X series will be like FF is to m43. Pretty much the same size difference. Well done, Fuji

Since I shoot Sony, I'll wait for the A9 before I'd even consider the Fuji. I want the Fuji, but a faster focusing, more refined A9 might be the the one camera for all purpose and a better choice for me.

It's going to be interesting to see how much the A9 will cost. I'm betting it's not going to be that much cheaper body wise than this Fuji given what Sony has been doing with prices lately.

Yes, that will be key for Sony. If the A9 ends up costing $6k and this Fuji is $7k, I know what I'll end up doing. A $4k and below A9 is what Sony needs to release. If Sony does release a $6k that is still slower to focus than what Canon and Nikon has, it'll be tragic.

So, do we know:

1) weight of body?

2) weight of each lens?

3) DR? I would love 15.5-16 stops...an extra couple stops over the a7 series is massive for me.

In DOF, what is my crop factor? I know it's a .8, but what are we talking about in DOF.

A 50mm (in FF terms):

M4/3 = 2.8 at 100mm
ASP-C = 2.0 at 75mm
FF = 1.4 @ 50 mm
Fuji MF crop = ? @ 40mm

It is about 40% of a stop...so a bit above 1.2?
