Nope. Just use adapters. I've found that adding some grease to the G focusing adapters gears really improves their usability. I also use them with 35mm film, so I'm not interested in converting them unless my film camera dies and it becomes too much to replace it.

This lens sings for landscape on the right sensor. My a7RII has a single 1mm piece of glass in front of the microlenses.
nice photographs but i got lost. What lens are you using and in what original/converted camera?

I imagine the 16mm is /bad/ unless it's on film. Even in the M9 days modified 16's did really poorly.
The lens isn't a easy one. If you want to compensate for the massive vignetting, then you're necessarily metering at f/16. It's also really easy for a finger to get the frame, too, being so tiny...
But in terms of problems actually caused by digital: With the NKIR thin sensor mod (slightly thinner than what's on the M9) I'm really only dealing with 2:
Severe color shift in the corners
Being limited to the electronic shutter.

Very nice images.
I have found that my Zeiss 35mm f1.4 ZM Distagon performs extremely well on my A7rII Kolari Vision UT sensor modded camera. But, I need to stop down most often to f8 or f11 for DOF for my landscape work as the focal length is 35mm. Also, I do not use the lens as often as I might like due to its size and weight as I almost invariably also carry my Leica M WATE mounted to either my A7rII Kolari UT modded camera or my Sony A7r Kolari Thin Sensor modded camera. Additionally, for much of my landscape work I often carry and prefer the 28mm focal length and will usually carry either use my Leica R 28mm f2.8 V2 Elmarit or when weight is more of an issue and the temperature is below about 80 degrees F I will use my Minolta CLE MC 28mm f2.8 M-Rokkor lens lacking the dreaded White spots.
After your post I was looking around, intrigued by G system.
It looks that for some like the 21 it is not enough to make the thin sensor transformation. it is also necessary to utilize the filter. And this means also a change of the performance of the lens. Also assembly of the filter would be an issue, in terms of centering, parallelism,... at least if i do myself
Probably also a significant change in the performance of the lens could be noticed when shooting against the sun.
Still the pictures shown by some members on their transformation of the lenses are compelling, very attractive
The Loxia set looks huge in comparison.

G's.
I have the whole set except the zoom. It's focusing adapters aside, its still the best for weight to IQ ratio.

I have been shooting the G21 with a PCX filter on Sony stock sensors for the last 4 years. I cannot recommend it enough. It’s easily one of my top 5 favorite lenses ever.
Nice shoot! is it SOOC? Do you shoot also the 28? also with filter? Do you shoot it also with a modded camera?
My experience with Ultron 35 and PCX was that PCX decreases performance of the lens against the sun.

Sorry I missed this.
That’s RAW and thank you! And yes, might change flare—does not surprise me. And yes, the G21 really needs a PCX filter to be usable. And here is a really great article to help you understand contax G’s on Sony:
I plan to buy the Zeiss again. The Q2 I used for nearly 2 years was great but 28mm not always ideal for Portrait. Is this lens working with the TECHART Pro 6.0 with Eye-AF with the A7RIII?

You might be better off waiting for the GM 1.4/35 rumoured for early next year, since it might well be no bigger than the ZM plus techart, be competitive in IQ and have much better focus.
Yeah, heard of the 35mm GM. I shoot with the 16-35 GM, 24-70 GM and 85 GM and know their characteristics. For jobs I take the GM's but I want a new toy for private shootings and was always a big fan of Zeiss glass. It's pop and overall rendering character, the contrast and colors especially with the ZM here is just awesome. I just looked in my archive and looked for the ZM pictures I shot. There is something really special and it is sitting even over the RXII which I had for a while. I would definitely need quite an effort in post to get the Zeiss look with the GM's. Maybe it is even not possible to get close even in post, who knows. The decision is more coming out of the stomach than thinking straight forward if you know what I mean. (Same with the Leica Q2 decision which is a wonderful camera but like mentioned I want to go back to 35mm) I should have never sold this glass, same with the Loxia 21mm which I will buy back also soon. Did a little research and Eye-AF should work with the A7RIII and the Techart Pro adapter - obviously not possible with the A7RII, so I am good to go.
VM 35F1.7 and 35 F1.4 comparison.
Both of them are set at F = 5.6
Taken with Sony A7R2. Both are remarkably sharp even at edge.
I also took same area using Panasonic S1R and Leica Elmarit-R 35mm F2.8 E55 V3
It display clearly Leica trait. But still behind ZM or VM but still great sharpness.
