Since the first 2 weeks with my A7RII + Zeiss 35mm 1.4 ZM and the TAP I must say this lens is just like magic. It generates such sharp and contrasty images... Wow... The vignetting @1.4 is quite visible but the 3D-Pop just blinds this out IMHO. Thanks to everyone who gave input for this marvelous lens. It reminds me back to the good old times where I was out with my Nikon F4s and Kodachrome film. Is it just me with that feeling? For "clean" images I will take my 24-70mmGM 2.8 and 55mm 1.8 / 85mmGM 1.4. This setup with 3x great fast primes and the GM-Zoom is all I need in the moment. Greetings from Germany.
Lovely Bastian. Is that type of shot you are worried about the front-lens flare?
I try a couple shots last night and could not make it flare any different than the bare lens.
Also, if you want to purchase the lens new, it can be purchased from The Leica Shop in Vienna for a little more with free shipping. They are very very good. I purchased my lens from them as have others and Ron Scheffler purchased his CV 35mm f1.7 Ultron from them and was pleased with his dealings with them.
Silver, new: €1350 / US$1433 + shipping + duty. I just bought one of these and have received the lens as expected. Came out to a little over US$1500 total.
Black, new: €1488 / US$1581 + shipping + duty. I don't have experience with this seller.
I'm not affiliated with either of those sellers.
Currently waiting for my SLB-50-5000PM front-end lens from OptoSigma and was thinking of saving my first post for some samples with it, but it won't be here for several weeks so why not a first post that could save some people a couple hundred bucks instead.

I am talking about shots like these, yes. Albeit the one from Venice was taken exactly 2 days before the Eksma filter arrived.
So, I've seen a lot of images and tests at far distances - how does the 35/1.4 ZM do up close near MFD for tight space candids?
Personally I like what my 35/2.8 Sony does at this focal length for such uses, but it's just not f/1.4 and if you want any kind of blurred background at 35mm you need all the aperture you can get
Thanks - for candid close-ups only the central 2/3rds of the frame needs to be very good wide open 'cause I don't usually put people off into the corners.
