Shot with Sony A7r2 + TECHART LM-EA7 AF adapter + Nikon-L/M K&F CONCEPT adapter + Noct-NIKKOR 58/1.2 @ f/1.2 in pretty dim light.

This is the kind of situation the lens was really designed for.

Off topic, but does anyone have the TechArt contax G autofocus adapter?
I can't seem to find it anywhere. I wanna auto focus the 45mm/f2 lens.

FYI, here's another page on the TAP. Info is probably captured here, but might be a useful read.

I was thinking that through reverse engineering, the adapter 'mimics' the camera code for certain options. Perhaps, having the camera WIFI turned "on" may be the cause of the dramatic battery drain being reported here.
I still get zero drain overnight so I thought that would be something to try it out. (Airport On/Off option)

Not in my case.
I’m in airport mode, and get the "overnight drain" with the TAP.

But not always <- just for clarity.

I know this is counterintuitive, but try with airport mode 'off' for one night and let us know. (Remember reverse engineering could have wrong values for things)

Put in the fully charged battery that sometimes drains, and turned airport mode off.
Last time it was in overnight it didn't drain, but during the next day, it did.

We'll see how it goes.

An FYI for anyone concerned about the combined weight of your adapter and lens on the TAP -

I received my first Leicaist branded adapter today (Konica -> LM). At 42g, it's half the weight of the Fotasy and K&F concept branded adapters (MD & Nikon, respectively) that weigh in at 72g each.
I didn't weigh the C/Y adapter, but it's also noticeably heavier.

Not sure if it's the design of the Konica mount adapter, or if the Leicaist branded adapters are generally lighter, as a matter of design.

I've got two more coming direct from Techart, (Canon and C/Y) but have no idea if they've shipped yet. They were listed as in stock when I ordered when this thread was initially posted.

Will report back, once they arrive.

In terms of a Contax C/Y to Sony E adapter-- many are not recommended for the A 7RII. I am having a hard time finding one that is definitely designed and able to work with the A 7RII. What are others using. ?

You mean all the way from C/Y to E?
I'm surprised that there's anything special about the A7rII. Perhaps you mean full frame? There are a few adapters out there that only work on APSC. But if the adapter mentions any A7 series camera it will work on all. There are no electronics in a a C/Y to E. (Contax G is another matter...)

Most reliable ones are the Novoflex and the Rayqual. They are also the most expensive, but they all seem to be evenly machined and close spec, at least all I've used. I marginally prefer Rayqual because they have nice light baffles.

Sometimes the helicoid ones are useful. They cost about 40- bucks and give you closer focussing. They benefit from a a bit of flocking.

Cheapest ones will sometimes be fine. I've had very good luck with K&F concept (though not specifically the CY one) I have a few and all have been fine which is more I can say for some other cheapies. Not statistically significant though.

Has anyone found that the Voigtlander 10mm with the Techart Pro is more temperamental in focusing than other lenses? My experience is that with good light and sharp edges it works very well but where there is less contrast it can fail to find infinity focus, especially if on f8 or f11. over the weekend i often found myself looking behind me for a building or some other manmade object to get infinity focus, and opening up to 5.6 just to focus. It was important to check the focus on each picture after taking it. Manual focus is difficult because you need to get the adapter parked in just the right position, which is hard, and i am tempted to get a manual LM to E-mount adapter too, just for when i want manual focus.

But overall, i am still very happy with the way it works. it still seems amazing that it does autofocus as well as it does. and with "long" lenses, like a 21 or 24, it seems to nail focus every time except for when there is user error.

The 10mm is pretty slow, and not that contrasty, high combined with the deep DOF can be a problem for AF. I got the FE version, even though I have a TechArt coming (to be fair, I got the FE version long before I considered TechArt ... But I'm happy with that choice. I think the TechArt likely shines with fast lenses in people contexts.

If anyone else has used the techart with the 10mm M, please let me know. I am awaiting delivery (preordered) of one and am considering the techart pro especially for help with focus with this lens. I also have the zeiss 35 f1.4 m which I see will be a good partner with the techart, but that is not enough to justify the tech for me as I probably would prefer manual focus for most of my shooting, although the techart would conceivably open up a whole new world of action type shots. Also would be interested in how it works with the 15mm voigt m as well. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

The problem I find with the Techart for manual focus is that when retracted, it is not far enough extended to give infinity focus. My guess is only a tiny amount, like a millimetre. With "normal" lenses, lets say 21mm or longer, the lens's focus mechanism can easily make up for that, but when you use the 10mm lens's focusing ring, the travel is too small. (At least that is my explanation.) In principle it should be possible to put the lens on infinity, autofocus on infiniity, and then switch to manual focus, leaving the adapter parked in the perfect position. Or set the lens at, say, 3 meters, and then focus on something 3 meters away. But I haven't found it as easy as that.

But much of the time, certainly with architectural shots and when there is something clear to focus on, the 10mm does very well with AF. I have had a load of in-focus shots, though with such a wide angle I use the small flexible spot much more than with other lenses. But I have also had situations where I have failed to get it to focus on infinity, which I haven't had with other lenses. And the adapter is obviously brilliant for extreme close ups.

When I got the Techart I was thinking of my large collection of OM lenses, including ones like the 85mm f2.0 and 100mm 2.8, which need accurate focus. It works nicely with those, though it makes me realise that these lenses, or at least my copies, are possibly a little soft at full aperture, though the wide angles are great. But the answer is that I probably just need more practice at learning when and how to use them.

If you look through here:
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1425842
You'll find autofocus shots I took with Choppy, a CV 15/4.5 III VM-mount with chopped off petals, on an A7r2 and the TechArt Pro adapter. No problems at all. Works very well.

I also bought an excellent CV 10/5.6 in E-mount, as I no longer wanted to wait, when only the E-mount was available. That lens is sooo wide. Put aperture on f/9 and focus on infinity and you are good to go to use it as a P&S. Though I am assuming the VM-mount 10/5.6 would autofocus well on the TechArt Pro adapter, I will stick with my E-mount version. Currently the TAP adapter lets you enter focal length values between 15mm and 90mm into the Exif. So, it couldn't enter 10mm.

Many thanks for sharing your experience. Very interesting.
I think I made the right decision to get the VM-mount version for 15mm and the E-mount version for 10mm.
Better lucky than smart. That's how I feel with the choices I have made.

FYI

I've bought at least two of these Fotodiox Pro dumb adapters because they have (removable) tripod mounts, and they've worked fine on an A7II and A7RII - though I haven't done extensive testing - just normal use.
https://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Pro-Lens-Mount-Adapter/dp/B00VIVXJNK/

There are probably less expensive versions that are fine as well.

Note:
I forget which adapter, but one of mine will get light leaks, via the lens release tab on the adapter, under the right conditions.
Placing a finger or piece of tape over it is the quick fix. I'm guessing the more expensive adapters wouldn't suffer from such quirks.
