@GMPhotography: The images show the 50/1.4 (at 1.4) to be slightly out of focus/less sharp on the upper side (see upper edge of the "sky"), but better on the lower part compared to the 85.
Yea I had a little trouble focusing the 50 on manual. I actually did it three times. The center ones no problem but for some reason it was a challenge on the overall wall. I'm not concerned as far as the lens itself because I been nailing it all along. I'm focused also just above the B which is maybe set back from the top about 3 inches. It's not a perfectly flat wall. The 85 I'm actually a little closer. I can't get back far enough as I'm hitting a wall behind me but on the overall it was popping in easier. I was even screwing around with my diopter . I'll be checking it again for sure. I only hit this in very bright light. No troubles with overcast or when I was in NY. I still have a week on return so I'll be checking this again. I'm also pointing slightly down as if perfectly level I would be in sky a little too much and this could possibly be it.
F1.4 Bokeh! Sony FE 50 F1.4 @ 1.4 AF (Top). Sigma Art 50 F1.4 Amount @ 1.4 MF with La-ea3 adapter (Bottom). SOOC raw processed for jpeg upload tp FM.com via LR6. Both handheld. I think I turned off EFC. Not sure if changing sunlight/clouds or T-Stop resulted in different shutter speeds as both images were fired in Aperture mode. Interesting differences in color between the two lenses. Note: There is a light pole along the right edge of the FE 50 F1.4 image that I didn't crop out.
To me it this series looks a touch better. Lens is not going back. The lamps above on upper left extend out, I always want them in there for CA reasons. I always get CA on those lamps if the lens has it. The 50 does not

Thanks for posting these tests Guy. It looks like a keeper!
Thanks bud, I agree i put the box away and its staying there. I hope you keep yours as well. I truly think its the sharpest tool in the shed in native mount and having no CA is truly nice to have. I do notice it matches our GM lenses both of them very well too. i like having lenses match in color and tone given I change lenses so often in a series or a job its nice to have that consistency. I don't know what else to test for you did such a nice job in the beginning I can only add to what you have already done a great job on. I know this is going to be a tough choice for some folks as there are a ton of 50mm out there and 55mm. I just hope we helped some folks make a decision. Like Fred I don't get a nickel for this stuff and have zero interest in making Sony look good or bad for that matter. Im just happy to see a good lens come to market for us and share whatever test I have. Its your money Im just hoping you spend it wisely.
Its funny my NY shots in the rain and some of these overcast images being posted are really really nice with minimum light. This lens may just love overcast light since everything I have seen looks dang good. Not sure what to make of that
