Thanks David, I first replaced my 70-200 VR for the 135 f2.0DC, then the 200mm f2.0 and now the 105mm f1.4. Really love a prime lens with a shallow depth of field.
The 105 is a great lens to be close enough to your subject and still blow the background away. And that swirly bokeh in the background is really stunning and has much more character then the 85mm from Nikon, or the 135mm or 85mm from sigma. The Contrast, sharpness from the 105 is also outstanding, better then my 58mm... Love this lens, and not so heavy as the 200mm f2.0

Love the 28E and the 105E.
As for the 50-58mm, I have got the 50mm f/1.2 and 1.4 AI-s, the 50mm f/1.8G, the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art, and the Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 Classic, but no love for the 58E. Actually, when I went into the shop wanting to get the 58E I came out with the 50A because I just don't like the feel of it when it was mounted on my camera and the pictures just didn't impressed me as much as the other lenses I already own.
So, threads like these will only makes me want to try it, but will never affect my final decisions. Ultimately, each must try it out and like it and not buy it and blame others for the poor recommendations.
Finally, with the few lenses I have mentioned here, the 105E really pops. It is by a class of it's own for this focal length, just like the 14-24mm f/2.8G, and it is Made in China! Cheap and Good!👍👻🏃
"Usable" is the good word. Not fast, nor reliable. It can hunt a lot in the corners and never focus although the little "face box" is visible on screen in good lighting conditions, and sometimes it will track the eye even in AF-C on a child that comes to you... Really it depends...
Oh and I had at times the blackout issue. I have to remove the battery to make it work again.
Anyone else have to adjust their 105 1.4E for backfocusing? I had to set mine at -5 on my D750 and D600.... Works great now, so I guess it isn't a big deal.

The 105E is such an amazing lens it is worthy to get it 100% right. I had mine set to 0 for a long while and did not notice any focus issues. I then used the Focal and mine is now finely tuned at +1 on the D850 and 0 on the D750.
