I was out shooting a company event yesterday with the 105 and the guys working the mechanical bull asked about my gear and explained the difference between this lens and a kit lens like the 55-200 is the buttery blur of the background.
For an example, I had them stand about 2-3 feet apart and took the following

I'm quickly starting to think that the D850 with the 58 and 105 will be my primary travel/walking around set up...
There are numerous choices. I have the D750/D850 and lens array I have now picked carefully. Nikon 14-24G, 20/1.8G, 58G, 50/1.4G, 50/1.8G, 85/1.4G, 85/1.8G, 105E, 70-200E, 105/f2.8 Macro and 24-120G along with Sigma 24, 35, 50, 24-105 Art and 150mm f/2.8 Macro. 80% of the lenses I acquired used for 1/4 to 1/3 of the normal price in mint condition. There are great light to travel options and then amazing lenses when you need them

Charles, I have a full array of lenses to compliment my D5/D850 set. I'm just thinking of traveling light (especially when we visit my wife's family in Japan every year or so). Between the 58G and the 105E, I'm thinking I can do most of what I'd want to do when out and about. Then I don't have to carry around the 70-200, 200-500, 105/f2DC, 24-70, Tamron 15-30 and Sigma 85 Art and 135 Art...
Jean-François, superb series of shots !!! #5 and 6 are my favorites

The 58G is surprisingly small and light lens and stopped down marginally it is very sharp. I used it last year in Spain for my street lens with the D810 then
Hi Don,
Thanks for your comments. I prefer the Zeiss Milvus over the 105mm also. The colors and micro contrast are awesome with the Zeiss. I like the bokeh better as well. Of course they both have their own characteristics, and are both fantastic lenses, it just comes down to personal preference. Thanks again for your post. Another with the Milvus 85.

Hi Todd,
This is a nice image of Jenna, but I prefer the colors and the overall picture of Jenna better that you had shared with the Milvus 85.
