That bokeh is clean! Is it always like that or is it just these particular conditions?
Always. The 105 has the best bokeh in it's niche class. Virtually no onions
I had lots of thoughts about selling it for a 70-200 FL but decided not to be lazy
This lens is on the short list. Amazing pics in this thread. Does anyone ever discuss the BG bokeh of this lens looking like it is rendered on a giant sphere? Is this only at f/1.4? it is obvious on ?some? shots with a great many leaves in the BG.
Man I can't imagine selling this rig for Canon, though I agree I with you in that I like Canon's skin tones out of camera better. Yours look great though, and I know Canon has the 85 1.2 but still

The only thing that bothers me with this lens are the lemon shaped bokeh balls.
Me too. The older 105 DC and 135 DC don't do this that I could see when I used them. I wish that was fixed. My 58 1.4 does it a bit but I'm living with it as it smoothes over the light better than other lenses and I like that enough to keep it.
Beautiful work in this thread. I finally joined this somewhat exclusive club, taking delivery of my 105 yesterday. First time out with it today, decided to try something different. Mated to my D850, when my dog was running fast after his ball, which he tends to do, it didn't always lock on, but when it did, magic.
