NikonRumors says the China factory will be closing... 2 observations:
1. Likely to be tighter inventory over the next year of this and other Chinese produced lenses while production moves back to Japan (or Thailand)
2. I sorta wish I waited to pick up a "Japanese" lens 😬
I’ve been doing night shots for years and years now, same way you do.
Quite frankly, that’s the same exact result I’d like to get and like you said, it’s all about vision inside my head.
I just don’t have such good looking clients and colors that you get. (Critiquing my work here)
On a side note, my Profoto B2 is too powerful for night shots like these. That’s why you see a shutter speed of 1/40 on a 105mm lens
Had I increased my shutter speed, my ambient light would’ve been too dark.
But if I did increase my ISO to compensate for my higher shutter speed, my flash would’ve been too bright and I’d have to move my light modifier farther away from the subject and that’s the last thing I wanna do because I’d get a harsher light.
Therefore a speed light should’ve been used for this kind of a situation.
No issues, your images look good to me
Colours and pp is just a taste.
I just experienced the too powerful side of a monolight for night photography. I ended up using the Led of the Godox AD600B on certain shots to be able to recover the background ambiant lights.
Definitly prefer the Yongnuo YN-300 for night shots. And it's so much cheaper and easy to work with

Interesting.
I may end up purchasing the [overpriced] Profoto A1 for night photography in the future since I'm heavily invested in Profoto system...
It's just going to be easier to use with my B1 and B2 units.
Great shots but it'd be odd for you to remove braces.. Todd wrote:
Three from a full set this past Sunday. Phottix Indra 500 and Westcott rapidbox XXL. I don’t have photoshop so I can’t remove braces yet....
Honestly I am very tempted to switch all my system for a Sony A7R III or A9 (Eye Focus, EVF are godsend), but this lens, and the 58 1.4 are preventing me from doing such a thing.
1/3/5/9 for me... don't go over to the dark side! 😬 Cameras come and go, lenses are what keep me in a particular system.

Superb series of images!!!
I had spend 4 years when the A7 series arrived, with the A7r, A7s, A7II and A7rII. The A7 series are great cameras, still missing great mid to longer lenses but as a small/light landscape and travel it is superb. There are a number superb WA lenses that are available which makes for a very compelling landscape travel system. For portraits I had the FE 34/1.4, FE 55/1.8, GM 85/1.4 and I was using the adapted ZA 135/1.8 LAE4, 85L II and 50L with the MB IV. There are some further excellent additions, but I would try out the system before you move as I found it slower and less decisive that with the Nikon AF system. I would suggest to use the face/eye recognition with the D850 via OVF as this is very fast and accurate. I also find that with the A7rII and FE 35/1.4 and GM 85/1.4, ZA 135/1.8 with LAE4 the size/weight difference is minimal compared to the Nikons. The other compelling reason for me is that there is no peer to the new Nikon 70-200f/2.8 E FL zoom lens as this is a work horse lens for me. Ergonomics wise the larger fast lenses feel better on the D850/D750.
That said I will eventually pick up a A7rIII for travel, but my lens selection will be very limited to small/light lenses and I have not interest in the fast lenses anymore. I find the fast lenses with Sony A7's are very long, torpedo like and awkward as you walk around. There is a good reason why the Canon 50L, 85L, Nikon 58G are short and squat and just feel right.

That's a focal range I use a lot myself. I'll have to check that lens out.
