To be honest...I initially was not that impressed by this lens. I felt "unimpressed" after reading so many comments about how this lens is on par with the 200mm f/2...which IMHO renders like no other lens. Nonetheless...I'm not sure how "objective" I was when reviewing shots with this lens.
But in the past month...I have shot the Sigma 135mm and the 105mm. At first...I was not convinced the 105mm was worth the $800+ premium in regards to price. But the more I shot with the 105mm...the more I prefered the way this lens renders when compared to the Sigma. And the 135mm is one tack sharp lens...but the bokeh is more pleasing on the 105mm.
I like.... the first one is really cool, nice tones. It's my favorite. The rest are nice, I like the fog!
Saturday I'll be using my Phottix Indra 500's for my first paid job. I recently bought the Westcott Rapid box beauty dish, Joel Grimes edition, I like that thing. Also got some CTO gels to create sunset light. I'll be shooting a beautiful brunette (family member) for some practice and a 5 member family in the afternoon. Can't wait to post.
Really special work. Capturing a moment in time. This image can, and will be, incredibly special in the years to come. I think that gets overlooked in all that we do as photographers. The impact we could potentially have in someone's life with 'just an image'. Even with just taking snaps at home with our own kids. Cool stuff.

Nice work Todd. How do you like the Grimes BD?
Thanks...
so far I think it's awesome. After watching Joel Grimes on YouTube and see how he uses it, I used it the same way this weekend with excellent results. So far I think that the beauty dish is quite stunning. However at $300 (Boens mount) it was tough to buy. But I'm glad I did. Are you thinking of getting one?
Thanks for the feedback. I am actually. I have the Mola Demi which I love, but it's quite heavy and bulky for outdoor photoshoots on the go, so I'm selling it. Couple of weeks ago I got the SMDV 70 as a budget-friendly alternative to the Grimes BD, but I might still get the BD.
