It was a sticky for awhile then the posts started to slow down so I am guessing that is when it was taken off sticky status. I would guess now most of the posts have been bumps (a lot from me) so it doesn't go to archive status.

I am in process of building on in my garage also. Will post a pic of it when finished in about a week or so. Looking forward to seeing some other set ups.

Looking good Brent, opportunities for some natural light work as well. What's your headroom in the studio looks close on 11ft.

Looks closer to 13 or 14 feet. That is a 10 foot ladder. Nice space! I like the cyc in the wall.

There 12ft and the big doors are 10ft high. opening the doors and putting out a 12x12 silk makes wonderful light.

I just got the keys to my new studio/apartment today...can't wait to move in next week

18ft ceilings, Chicago, north loop, sure beats my shooting in my parents living room (which I've been using for the last year ahaha)

Really nice Ross,

Is that real hardwood flooring in there or that snap together stuff? Looking at putting in wood flooring in my studio. Looks really nice in yours.

Thanks guys,

I didn't buy the place, I'm leasing it for the next 12 months, I will be using it as an apartment as well because I'm a college student. I'm transferring to a photo school (Columbia College in Chicago) and starting classes there in September.

I'm pretty sure the floors are real hardwood...the building is 4 stories and was renovated in the late 80s, there is a book store on the first floor, offices on the 2nd and 3rd, and 2 loft apartments on the top, ours being one of them (I will be sharing the space with 2 room mates)

Rent is 1615 a month + utilities, it's in a real nice area, surrounded by tons of art galleries, restaurants, and close to the el (Chicago's subway). The other tenant in the building works nights which means we pretty much have the building to ourselves after 5pm + weekends and can be as loud as we want...so we'll be able to throw some pretty wicked parties as well hehe (with all the photo gear locked up of course)

I think my school will have some pretty nice studios to use but I've already got a backdrop stand setup, a few rolls of seamless, and some strobes, so it will be nice to be able to work from home whenever I want and not have to book studio time at school.

You might be surprised how fast that open space disappears with 2 other roomates in there.

I think it's about 1500 sq feet, started moving some things in today but won't be done for another 2 weeks or so...part of the space will fill up with our stuff but I think I'll still have plenty of room to shoot for what I'll be using it for....I'll post some more pics once it gets more developed.

I would say it's real if you look at the water stains in picture 3.
Tooks like a great place.
That brick wall will make a great background!
