Hi Mike:- What a piece of history. My first enlarger was an omega like the one pictured. You provided a big memory with pictures 3 & 4.
Thanks for sharing!

I'm just a mirror, the person who did the original archiving work is TJ Asher. I've not seen any additional pages from him but if he posts them, i'll put them on that site as well.
Not to worry, I am still archiving this thread. I just have to get off my duff and convert it to PDF at some point. I've sorta been waiting for the thread to finally drift off.
Once it's no longer active, I'll repost the entire archive of PDFs for everyone.
So, don't needlessly bump it or you'll never get the archive.
Anybody remember who was opening the studio and coffee bar? They had the consrtuction pictures. I can't remember who it was or what page it was on.
Thanks,
Ryan
Remember the early days of this thread? All scantily clad women and noted setup shots… those were the days. Sigh.
Nice shots Gismo, can you give us some details about what is going on in the setup there? The background looks nuclear, I love it. What settings do you have on the lights and in camera?
We went to "studio" just to take few shots of friends dog and than kids started fooling around.
What do you mean with "background looks nuclear"?
I used two Multiblitz Ministudio 250 flash heads for background and two AB800 for "actors". Don't know exact settings for light because I still don't have lightmeter (ashamed). In camera I used iso100 and f 6.3 - 8.
Nuclear, meaning no color. Zero, all gone. All white. You nuked the background.
I am guessing you did something along the lines of maxing out the lights aimed at the seamless, then used a mid range setting on your subjects? Can you talk a little about what you did with them to achieve the effect?
And if you can make your shots look that good without a light meter, then you don't need one. (well, unless it saves you time)
Hi,
Here is a lot of information. I have been studying this 265 pages for 3 evenings but, unfourtunatly I haven't found what i've been looking for. I was really counting on your help. In 10 days, I'm going to be taking graduation pictures for the graduating class. There are 32 people in the class and i want to line them up in 4 rows. I will be taking the picture in a classroom where i'm going to have some sunlight coming in throught the window. The kind of lighting I would like to use is 2xAB 1600(I got a background muslim and background support). My question is: Is the 2xAB 1600 going to be enough light? What size softbox should I use? Do you have any other suggestions? I would be very thankful for any.
Hi Jerzy:- not a problem with that many people use as big a softbox as you have. Two strobes at 45 degrees to each other, 1/2 power on each. Iso 200
Start at about 5.6 check your exposure and adjust it from there.
I use 2 AB1600 about 20 ft from the subjects about 15 ft wide and use 1/4 power or less with 30X40 softboxes.
