Didn't see a thread on the Techart Pro so I'll drop this review here:

Autofocus Anything - Techart Pro

Really enjoying the adapter - especially with the latest firmware (v3).

Chat,
Do you have to manually pre-focus before using the adapter's AF or just setting the lens to infinity and let the adapter work does the trick?

Hi Fred, the link Street Fighter Ken provided sums it up perfectly. Generally, the only time you pre-focus is on lenses longer than 50mm and when trying to focus closer than the native min close focus distance.

With a Contax/Yashica to Leica M adapter I suppose some of the old Contax Zeiss lenses should be light enough to be used, maybe 28/2.8, 50/1.7, 85/2.8 or the 100/3.5. Then there's the AF adapter for Contax G lenses, which should make the Contax G 90/2.8 and 45/2 usable with AF on Sony. So there are quite a few options for using small, classic Zeiss lenses with AF now, in addition to ZM lenses.

Of course I haven't forgotten M compatible lenses frim Leica and Voigtländer.

Using Contax Zeiss SLR wide angles circumvents smearing issues.

Has anyone used this adapter with the WATE?

Yes, I also have the C/Y to M adapter and it works wonderfully. It's like having my old Contax AX again!

I've tested the 28/2.8, 35/2.8, 50/1.7, 50/1.4 and the 80-200/4 (which btw, is really nice on the a7RII sensor)

Excellent!! I've the 28 and the 100 planar. Chad, how do you rate your experience with the zoom?

Just a quick question. Is it necessary to use Techart CY-M adapter, or any adapter will do? I read somewhere that other adapters will not fit, so I like to confirm it, before I dive in.

Yup, one of my favorite lenses.
The WATE works just fine with this adapter on my A7r2.
As does the Voigtländer VM-mount 15/4.5 III.

Thanks so much for the confirmation. Wow that is a game-changer. I may have to reconsider switching to Fuji.

I have the Sony 28/2 and the new Sony 50/1.8 FE and a Sony SAM 85/2.8 + LA-EA3 to make up my small kit. I guess that a Leica WATE and a Leica 135/4 Tele-Elmar combined with the Techart AF adapter could compliment this rather nicely. I don't think it's possible to create a much smaller Fuji kit than what I describe here.

No, any adapter will do. I ordered a third party C/Y-M adapter and it works fine.

The zoom is the slowest focusing of the lenses I have tested and requires a good amount of pre-focusing but it does work and the image quality is really great.

Lovely write up. I'm not very versed in Sonyworld, so excuse my ignorance. Can this only focus in the center?

And in general this fascinates me! Especially with the sonnar as it has notorious focus shift (which shouldn't have an affect here).

Also did you do the Kolari mod? If not how do those 35m's look at 100%?

No, you can move the focus point but it works best (quickest and surest) in the center.

Yes, you are correct regarding the focus shift of the C-Sonnar becoming irrelevant with the Techart on Sony.

No, I did not do the Kolari mod and as I mentioned in the review, corners were not great on the 35mm Biogon lenses until stopped down considerably - I did not notice any color shift. In the end I had become deeply enamored with the C-Biogon which was surprising as I expected to like the 35/2 Biogon more. Goes to show that you really need to shoot the lenses and make your own decisions on what you like and don't.

The 35/1.4 ZM is a lens I shoot mostly wide open so I could care less about the corners. That lens is just incredible for fast aperture shooting.

This looks like a winner. I'll order mine as soon as they figure out how to incorporate the Eye AF functionality.

Eye-AF would be nice to have.
But I wouldn't hold my breath for it to show up soon.

Well, I've been spoiled by Face Detect and Eye AF. I love the idea of using my M mount lenses and some smaller DSLR lenses (like my Pentax limiteds) with my Sony cameras, but will wait to get the Techart adapter until it has that functionality. I am not holding my breath, but considering how far they've come it certainly seems within the realm of the possible.
