Unfortunately, this Ricoh group has little activity — and the dpreview RicohTalk Forum is pretty much an internet random factor. In any case, I'm wondering if the recent GRIII firmware upgrade (v1.41) has a bug — actually in the current COVID-19 situation I haven't been shooting with the camera and don't know if the problem I'm having comes from this newest firmware or not.
I upgraded to 1.41 a couple of days ago and decided to try a shooting setup that is described in a vlog by Lintaro: you can find the 36 minute video by searching for "Lintaro Ricoh". I don't recommend this video: while Lintaor is engaging the approach is scatterbrained, and could have been presented more effectively ny posting a list of settings, rather than doing it in an video.
The basic approch is to use "back focus" (meaning to use the Fn button for autofocus) together with auto-ISO. The trouble is that, after setting this up, when you adjust the EVF, you find that if you change to EVF you occasional go beyond the range of the maximum ISO (6400 in this setting) and somehow get into +5 EVF, with the auto-ISO going to 80,000++ — and then you find you can enter negative EVF to bring the auto-ISO does. Also, if you change to manual ISO, you also cannot bring the ISO down to where you need it, and have to go into the menus to turn the ISO down. At this point, I'm ready to throw this camera out the window...
Well, two days since my post and there's been no activity: not sure that it's worthwhile posting here if there is so little readership. The problem I mentioned above simply and inexplicably disappeared and the camera now acts normally: I don't know if it was a physical problem with the Control Dial or with the firmware — I made some setting changes and that may have avoided a "clash" (incompatibility) of setting.
In Potomac, MD (15 miles from Washington, DC) and cannot travel to Paris and Bangkok, I’ve been experimenting with the Ricoh GR III. Usually, I shoot only DNGs but here’s is the first effort to shoot JPGs, using the Hi-Contrast B&W setting.

This is an image that I posted here earlier but have now reprocessed. I've also posted it on a GR III Facebook group. However, I found that Facebook compression darkens images to a degree that kills any subtlety in highlights. Therefore,I don't plan to post any other images there.
