Each year photographing ruby throats, I want to take my hummingbird photography to a higher level.

Poses, angles, light, action, camera. This year I have a male who likes to perch in a favorable spot but only later in the day, in the shadows or early evening. This has been a challenge using SS in the 200-400 range.

Today he finally decide to perch in a usual spot but in great early morning light. First time this year.

I am posting 10.

Nice set Ted...what I am seeing is measurably better control in preventing highlight blowout in both the whites and reds...nicely done.

10 lovely images. The last is quite neat, with the bird flexing his beak that much. Had lots to say I guess. Well done Ted.
