Thanks for getting it cocodrillo. They way GFW treats it photographers is right out of the 30's when women and children were second class citizens with no real purpose in society.

they asked me on Monday to shoot this w/e. I said no because you don't pay your bills. They offered PayPal upfront and travel expenses. We agreed on an amount and a cutoff date. Last night I got an email saying they had done an auto pay to my bank and it would take a few days, which means I shoot and then I get paid. And the amount of the transfer was wrong anyway.
I'm not sure someone was playing a game on me but I am sure I don't trust them enough to shoot and then get paid. I said NO this morning.
Shooter BEWARE
[edit] I just got an automated email from their pay machine. Said I'd see the money in 4 days. Despite being told over and over to use Paypal (and they agreed) they claim to have sent it to my bank (they don't have an account or routing number so I'm guessing this is human error or worse). The arrival is coincidently 4 days after the race ??
I hope I'm wrong because I hate to treat a potential customer this way, anybody else and I shoot and then get paid.

i Wasn’t wrong, they’re up to no good....added them to my spam folder for future emails
[edit]. They tried a few more stunts to get me to shoot before getting paid. I doubt they were ever going to pay 1st
Watch out for these guys, they act like a team

That's absurd. I've gotten several requests to shoot the past few months but haven't even responded. How shady can a company be?

The only thing left was to offer to pay upfront
They appear to have plenty of business but not enough shooters. We appear to have created a little shooters union here. Now their pay 1st scheme has been outed

I believe this could be viewed and charged under Federal Wire fraud statutes. Additionally if they are crossing state lines with the fraud it would be applicable under other Federal charges under the RICO Act. It might be time this gets brought to the attention of the Justice department, this is text book fraud!

believe it or not I got another prepay email from them yesterday. I said I was interested. They must have sent it in error and realized I'm already aware that there appears to be no PayPal payments (sounds familiar) so no reply from them.
Is this what a bad company looks like in public or is there an explanation. Has anyone else got these new emails ? I know 1 other shooter who has for sure.
I emailed them this morning and said take me off the rooster.

I've gotten prepared offers for this past weekend. I just ignored it as I'm sill owed money from past jobs.

These guys think we are stupid. As for them they are the MASTERS of BAIT and they think we are their BITCH! I would hope everyone has requested that their name be removed from the roster. If no one is available then they will start losing contracts. If you have an opportunity get in touch with any race director in you area and let them know what GFM is doing. If we can cut off the funds suppliers we can closeout this forum and move on with our lives. They clearly have failed as a company and a concept.

Just an FYI. I got a contract offer today for a Tough Mudder in Las Vegas for this weekend.. I think I put in for about 10 months ago when it looked like they were going to sort things out and this is the first I heard from them. The joke is that the people who no longer work there knew that I split time between Las Vegas and NJ and typically I am out there around now for the winter. I did decline the contract and sent Josh, who ever he is a note telling him that I was not arriving in Las Vegas until Saturday afternoon since I had heard nothing until now. Oh, there was an offer to pre-pay me for travel expenses but I doubt that they would have paid the airline change fees . If and if and if.....I would have taken the job if I was already there and had the day open and if the pre-payment was in my hands before 5pm on Friday... Bottom line is they are hurting for people so keep saying no, unless the pre-payments are real.

prepayment is real. I was owed ~$1800, and got two event requests from Conor. I said something to the effect of "look, if you can pay whats overdue and pay in advance of these events, I'm in. Additionally, if I'm paid up I can drop my pending lawsuit against you. Otherwise I must decline." He agreed.
I was paid in full within a few days, as well as received 'prepayment' for one event this past weekend, with an offer to prepay the other this coming weekend. Both with modest/reasonable travel bonuses. I say 'prepayment' as these were all paid by Bill.com (no more Paypal, which is probably a lot better for them from an accounting standpoint), but I had screen-captures of transaction confirmations from Conor on each day that prepayment was offered, and the following day I received the confirmations from Bill.com that the $$ was indeed headed my way. Event payment was sent on Friday by GFM, confirmation from Bill.com on Saturday, $$ in my account on Monday.
At this point, I am not particularly concerned about getting burned by further non-payment. I'll know immediately after an event if something is amiss (rather than net-45 that allowed initial debt to pile up). Furthermore, sending bogus payment confirmations is a few steps more sinister than not paying everyone because they don't have the cash, and would absolutely qualify as wire fraud. So, if they REALLY want to not pay that's their prerogative, but it would certainly and rather immediately end very poorly for them.
I also saw a report on the unpaid GFM photographers FB group that Josh was leaving, but that is (i think) unverified at this point.
p.29 #18 · Gameface media - heads up on getting paid
Reality for me is I won't be there in time for the event, we land about 3pm and this offer came in 4 days before the event so that says that they are hurting for real shooters. If they had come to me 3-4 months ago when I was booking my trip I might have said yes assuming I was paid before I started shooting. Plain and simple I do not do last minute jobs, unless it is four figure gig.
p.29 #19 · Gameface media - heads up on getting paid
If prepayment is happening I would be interested in knowing how much is still outstanding for past events. How many people have been given the bait and switch offers? If you are still following this thread and you are still owed money from past events please post what you are owed and how long they are past due. If you have been "offered" prepayment let use know. If you actually were prepaid let us know. In general it would interesting to see the current state of GFM fraud.
