Serious shakeup going on at GFM. Website and Yellowpages.com have shown three different addresses in the past week. Not sure which address is right, but either way it seems like they moved out of the expensive office in Boston to a small shared office space. One VP just left. Cash injection is in with promise to pay photographers. These are all pretty drastic changes.
All these are good changes, but will they be enough? Is the brand damaged beyond repair? Most importantly, they owe $10 million to investors who want their money back and then some. Seems an almost impossible hole to claw their way out of....Show more →
They will still have the problem of producing a free downloadable image a week later that was photographed by amateurs that anyone will give a crap about! It is still a business model that can't support the Snapchat instant gratification model of the vast majority of the audience they are hoping to attract. Nobody gives a damn about images that are available to download for free a week after the event was posted via their own smart phones! THAT is GFM biggest challenge to overcome. As well as the rest of the sport shooting world.

So.....The Globe article stated The article says that "freelancers will all be paid in full within the week" and....Bikedude135 stated "Just got notification that $547 of my $2400 debt is to be paid this Thurs 3/9. Woot woot!"
Just remember this is only a "notification" and NOT actually payment yet. I guess the article and the CEO should have stated 25% of the outstanding payments will be paid within a week. just another "lie", "manipulation" "deception"...whatever you want to call it just not good. The companies biggest asset and most important "employee" is being treated like a second class citizen and with the utter most disrespect

I shot six or seven events for them in 2016. They payed me for one event months ago. They just paid me through bill.com for the second event $390.00. According to Bill.com the money should be in my bank account tomorrow. Too be honest, after a lot bitching, threats, and researching options, I was going to give up on it. They still owe me like $1100, so see what happens.

It was a warrior dash on 6-11. The year started off with a J P morgan marathon on 5/26, and I shot a total of 7 events. After threanting an out campaign to smear their name thoughout the world, I was paid for the JP morgan event somewhere in Dec. But I don't think there's any set way to how they are paying. I know of some other photographers that shouldn't have been paid before me but were and vice versa. I think it's hapzard. Maybe even by how loud you complained. Shit, I wish now I could take back some of the expletives I threw at them.

That's funny, I shot a Tough Mudder on the exact same day and I haven't heard anything from Gameface. I've been emailing them A LOT, too.
I know, that's why I'm thinking there's no method to how they are paying.

I thought from the email you guys received it stated that some people would be paid based on tenure with GFM and willingness to continue to shoot for them... as well as the date of the invoice (). Not being a photographer and being a designer who GFM reached out to for help on some projects (failing to share they were having financial issues when they reached out to me) I don't have a tenure with them (as they came to me)... but i was important enough for them to come to in a financial crisis to help them gain partnerships with brands/races all while lying to me about payment. So if this is his method-- it doesn't really work for me. It is pretty insulting. Everyone of us deserves to be paid fairly for work they have used.

pay being based on tenure with GFM and willingness to continue to shoot for them... I'm almost sure was just somebody's opinion, not something that Gamefacemedia has stated. I could be wrong.

Dave's Email note the "In some cases..." (maybe I am misunderstanding but it sounds like he is paying people who have a history with GFM and/or are willing to keep shooting first)
We expect to make steady progress beginning in the second week of February and continuing through the end of March. In general, the most important factor is how long we’ve owed someone and we are generally paying off the oldest debts first. In some cases we make decisions on other factors such as tenure with Gameface, personal hardship and willingness to shoot new events. We still need to cover events for important clients every weekend and we understand when people say they are willing to shoot for us, but need to be paid at least part of what they are owed from past assignments before accepting a new assignment. I understand that this system isn’t ideal, but we need to continue to operate in order to be able to pay all of you in the future.

My payment notification (via bill.com) is for an event on Oct 1st. According to their "criteria" it's odd that they are paying me at all, for they know I have no intention of working for them ever again.

Maybe they really are paying everyone, because I just got paid for my June event.
