I don't understand how they can offer work when they can't pay anyone! I haven't been paid for work done in July and no one bothers to return emails about it. I guess it is ok to do work on their timelines but they don't have to pay you for it on your timeline.

Yes still waiting for payment for services on June 4 & 5th.... stop getting up dates, too.... thinking about filing for small claims thru the courts..... JIM

Just sent another email...getting tired of this, but I can't exactly afford legal fees and the amount they owe me is probably too small to justify it ($367).

Yes it is.. and I am considering going to small claims court. I have looked into it... and to do that you only need to pay a fee which varies depending on how much they owe you. And yes you can take them there for under $500 for a very small fee. And if you win they have to pay you back that fee. You do not need legal representation.
I agree though this is a perfect scenario for a class action suit. There are so many people who have been affected by this.
I am being told that they had no idea there were financial issues in July of 2016 when I started doing work for them. Clearly from the Runners World Article that was published in July and this thread.. they had to know. I get more frustrated that they don't even respond to me when I ask for updates on pay for a service I provided them which they made money off of. It is poor business and just a lack of respect.

Wow. That's bad. That's about when we were starting to find out that GFM was having financial problems. I guess they were just good at keeping it under wraps until more people realized they weren't getting paid.
I might have to explore my options for small claims court. I'm starting to get tired of playing games with them when they're not paying me or other people, and still actively hiring photographers for events despite them claiming they took down their Craigslist ads (they're still up).

Yeah.. I am not even a photographer. I found this thread when I googled them after not getting paid. I did freelance work for corporate. They knew. I am guessing they did and I know that is why they asked me to do freelance work. My work would get them more accounts potentially so they could start paying people. This is just a guess.. but I think it might be a pretty good one. In the meantime no one can tell me when I will be paid for work that they used and turned around very quickly.

According to LinkedIn, Lori left back in February, before it all hit the fan. I suspect she saw the writing on the wall and got out "while the gettin' was good."
Some die-hards seem to be hanging on there at GFM. For them, the clock keeps ticking... I think everyone knows what will ultimately happen. The question is only "when?"
I've heard about some photographers shooting events completely alone. No idea why they'd do such a thing when they should know the full extent of the situation by now.

The severe latency in payment has gone too far. My family and I are now left not being able to pay rent, bills, food etc., and losing everything little by little. The past few months have just been horrific, and the loss of this income has been the deciding factor. It has been a trickle down effect that we depended on that extra income. And today, we will lost our home.
It's just that I have 3 kids, one with special needs and trying to get through college. It's just so hard to get by, yet trying to put my children first.
Maybe some people will want to stop by and say hi!
Well looks like registration for that show is $2k plus hotels and paying whoever sits in the booth. Good to see they are blowing money on this yet their photographers are loosing their homes. They really don't care about anyone but themselves so I'm not sure why anyone would still shoot for them. I know I'm at 173 days of not getting paid from this fly by the night operation. Lucky for me I work for other companies that actually pay in the 30 days that we agreed on.
They just keep lying about paying, having Craig's List ad's removed Ect. Photographers need to stop keeping them alive and working for free.

The continued craigslist ads are what really grind me. The other stuff, unfortunately, is just how business goes sometimes. But hiring people under shady, borderline false conditions is not cool.
