Extremely well composed shot and perfect timing as far as time of the day. The sun just hitting the middle ground emphasizes the layers in the landscape.
I also agree that the tree anchors the composition in a very effective way with just a touch of light to accentuate its structure.

That is really cool! So many times, we see the same stuff from the SW and that's fine, but it's always nice to see something new and unique like this.
