This critterscape image of mine was selected for the 2017 The Nature Conservancy calendar from tens of thousands of submissions. I made it on a visit to Tanzania in 2008, using my canon 1DsIII and a 500mm f4 IS with 1.4x, for an effective focal length of 720mm. I was probably an eighth of a mile from this grouping which was not aware of my presence, thus the relaxed zeebs here. There were controlled burns nearby in the Serengeti that produced the atmospheric colors that dominate this image. One of the more exciting moments of my life. Enjoy!
I'm not much for most wildlife images but this is absolutely superb. Everything came together on this one - wonderful comp and some great lighting conditions. An image to be proud of!
