I like the concept of #1 but the conversion may be lessening the impact. All the middle tones, especially of the skin, make it hard to really identify and differentiate the individual dancers. I might try to lighten the skin tones first and see what happens from there. I like the composition of the second but the sun hitting their eyes makes them look uncomfortable. The one bright spot in the middle is distracting and I would lower the brightness of the image in general. You couldn't shoot from the other direction so I would have tried another set up or time so the sun isn't right in their eyes.

I prefer the color image better. The first one looks like it might have been taken in the 40's.

Both are really nice. I actually prefer the black-and-white image. It has a magical feel.

I have to agree there. And as far as it looking like it could have been taken in the 40's, that'd be a compliment to me, love the vintage mood. And the uniformity of dress combined with the differing expressions (from not so confident to owning it) gives it added interest to me.
