Beautiful colors Christian,
I can only imagine early morning or late in the afternoon could produce those colors?
Excellent results from the D500. . .
Can you please explain T4, I can guess as to Mom, but T4?
Thanks in advance. . .

Yep, I got him as the very first rays of sunshine were hitting the nest this morning.
"T4" stands for "Tiercel 4" - Following the original "Dad's" death in a vehicle collision on the Schuylkill Expressway, the hawk watchers designated "Mom's" subsequent mates by number. "T2" was hit by train, "T3" died of secondary rodenticide poisoning, and "T4" has now been around going on 3 seasons. "Mom" has hatched 25 offspring since 2009. Remarkable lifespan for a hawk in the urban core, really. (FWIW, the males make most of the hunting runs during the nesting season so they may simply be exposed to greater risks.)
That's fantastic that they return to nest in the same area year after year. . .
She must've been getting a bit of a reputation amongst the Tiercel collective, going through that many suitors ??
Also at 280mm, what lens were you using?

Here's a blog post based on a longer piece I wrote about the hawks and their human observers a while ago.
