Went out early last week to try a few different settings with the D500 + 200-500 and had a nice few hours shooting whistling kites and several other birds. One of the sequences I got was about 40 shots long tracking the kite along the beach before he turned sharply towards me and dived and grabbed something from the water kept flying towards me then banked sharply to land on a fishing trawler and finish his treat. I think only 2 of the 40 were slightly oof, which was really nice

BTW these were all taken using grp AF and with VR turned off.

Thx Geoff. Very happy with the outing, my best results to date. Turning off VR helped me eliminate a weird ghosting I was getting with the 200-500 previously in about 50% of my shots.
