I would say yes, it is too much HDR for me, but it is all personal preference. Fixing the white balance (too much magenta) and adding some more contrast definitely wouldn't hurt the image imo.

I'm still getting used to the D500 which is a bit of a learning curve for me.
Also I have not used Photomatix for some time now and forgot my work flow.

Here is another attempt. (Actually I replaced the original image with this one on Flickr)
