Rarely do the perch and the light come together like this in the woods. This was the last shot of the day - I walked away with the better end of the deal as the young hawk had missed a couple of squirrels that afternoon. After this, she chased after some ducks and then flew across the water, off into the sunset to continue the hunt for a while.

I have been using the D500 to photograph mostly birds/ wildlife for the last 6 months and really enjoying it. I decided to try some high iso images, and came off pretty impressed. Here is one taken in darkness at ISO16,000 hand held. I used the 200-500 f/5.6 + 1.4X TC.
