Hi All. Posted below are some of my results from using the D500 over the summer. I think it is a game-changing performer in the DX realm. FYI, the deer photos were taken in the Smoky Mountains, so the fog is the "smoke" for which the park is named. Most of these are completely unedited and were just exported using Lightroom's presets. The owl on a branch is actually at ISO 8000, and I did selectively sharpen and reduce the noise for it. I couldn't be happier with the AF and the IQ at high ISO is absolute icing on the cake.
I just picked up my D500 and this was the first image the camera gods blessed me with. Well except for a few in the backyard of the cat to make sure the camera worked. Loving this camera
Was testing out a new D500 in very low light, which you might not think is what these were shot in, but indeed the camera elevates the exposure level quite efficiently. The detail retention at elevated ISO's is excellent.
As a very happy D810 owner, I never thought I would use the D500 for portrait work... but the D500's AF system delivers far more tack sharp images following the constant movement of my granddaughter.
The IQ falls a bit short of the D810, but it's still very, very good IMO. The D500 is an exceptional camera.
Mine!! We use this duck planter to feed the doves. Up to a dozen at a time vie for
perching privileges in the afternoon. This RR decided to crash the party. Meep.
The AF of the D500 is AMAZING! I turned just as a duck had come out of the water and was flapping it's wings on it's way, had but a split second to lock on with centre point focus and fire.
