I'm loving viewing photos posted on this thread and am especially appreciative of those who include information about lenses and teleconverters used. I love the images but it is always useful to see how particular lenses are performing. Clearly, the D500 is a winner! Thanks everyone.
Here are a couple images taken yesterday evening at Iverson Spit on Camano Island, WA. These images were made with the Nikon D500 and the Nikon 300mm PF lens with the latest Nikon 1.4x teleconverter. I love this combination for (relatively) easy shooting of birds. For me, it used to be that birding involved large, heavy telephoto lenses, with tripods and gimbal heads. It still does, at times, but this new lightweight combination of gear (D500 with 300mm PF) sure offers a different approach!

I'm frankly stunned by the quality of the D500/200-500 combo. The AF rarely misses, and the idea that a little walking-around lens can do this is nuts!
Almost 3 weeks now with the new toy, really enjoying the reliable and super quick autofocus, and of course 10fps is music to the ears, but also 2x as much to sort and delete, but it's great to have more choices.
Amazing results from the D500+200-500f5.6 combo..... Hats off to you..!!

Thanks all sharing such fabulous images.
Thank you kindly, it really slipped me to add that detail. These were all taken with the 200-500f/5.6, some with 1.4tceii attached. Here are a couple others.
