Awesome. We had to Blue Angels in our area a couple of months ago. I don't have a long enough lens to even bother trying to shoot them. Wish I did.

Thank you. One of the Thunderbird jets had mechanical problem on Saturday so they put only 5 up. They didn't perform the opposing flights and the "mirror image" flights. Hope the Blue Angels will resume their shows soon but safety comes first.

Some birds..... Finally I got to try my D500 (with the Sigma 150-600mm Sports).

The sound of 10 FPS, wow! And the sound of the mouse clicking to delete similar looking images, haha.

Thank you Brian. I haven't done the AF micro tuning yet. Just received my Sony XQD card today but like I said in another thread, the 95MP/second SD card is plenty for airshows (good with 45 continuous shots in raw before it slows down), even if I spray and pray.

First session with the D500 for BIF and I'm very impressed with the AF system... it is what everyone has been saying it is, and showing us what it can do with some great images in this thread.

I still prefer the NEF's of my D810 over the D500... but the AF system and 10 FPS are a dream come true for BIF. Thank you Nikon.

These are all with my 500 f/4 D AF-S Version 1 (non VR) and I will tell you that the D500 has raised the level of performance and keeper rate of this lens to a whole new level.

Are you sure he mechanicalled on Saturday? While the pilot from the crash is back flying he may not be doing shows just yet.

This Brown bear in the rain was taken two weeks a go in Alaska. I used the D500 with a 300 f4 pf and
1.4 converter.. The iso on this shot was 3200..

Steve, I forgot from where I heard that one of the jets had mechanical issues. You may be right, it could be that the pilot from the crash on June 2 wasn't quite ready yet. It was nice that the Naval Academy sent a chaplain out to say a prayer for Blue Angel's # 6 Jeff Kuss and other performers. In this day and age of politically correctness, some people are offended by such a simple thing.

A few with the D500/200-500. Last one is at ISO 12,800 with selective NR on the background in LR.

There is a multitude of excellent shots on this thread! I want to applaud all of you posting for some very nice work.
On a technical side, I am seeing some very nice control of noise up to ISO 800 and of course some really great shots above that. I am very interested to see if any of you are printing 16x20 or above and at what ISO would you be confident with at that size? I am asking this in a generalized way assuming we are talking accurate exposure throwing out those shots that are underexposed or exposed far to the right.
Thank you for your thought!
Greg
