Is copy variation as still a major issue with this lens or are the more recent batches more consistent? I’m thinking of picking one up, but trying to decide if I should buy used or new (with return policy).
Last shot of 2021 and the first shot with the new 15 F4.5 F8 1/30 sec iso 100 A7R3 overcast light though. I haven't been out with the new lens other than this. NW Ohio is pretty ugly in winter with no snow. looking forward to shooting with it and see how it compares to my Loxia's
So many 14 and 15mm lenses were released after this one but it's still my preferred ultra wide lens. Great contrast, super flare resistance, beautiful color rendering in a very compact design.

Well here we go again Fred.... After reading this whole thread and the one on 65 APO this past week, it really intrigued my interest (OK, lets go ahead and call it what it really is GAS) I went home the other night and stubble across a listing for both these lens. After a lengthy discussion, I pulled the trigger on them. (besides, it was my birthday yesterday so deep down inside I felt I needed to treat myself to something special)
Seems like every time I get engrossed on a particular subject of these lens, I end up getting one after I've exhausted all reasoning. It happened with 40 1.2, then the 21 3.5 , 50 APO and now there two more being added with the 15 & 65.
There some really extremely knowledgeable folks on here and it is my go to first forum to get the low down on all subjects related to photography....
Thank You guys for all your priceless knowledge...

Dug out the tiny CV 15 for some shots, even though I had the new Sony 16-35 with me.
What beautiful photos! I really don't take mine out much, we just don't have the landscapes for it here. Indoors I tend to use the 17-40 more nowadays. I might just have to let it go some time soon, with pain in my heart.

Thank you!
I am sure you can find some really nice landscape near you, like Switzerland, Austria, German...If you are willing to drive . I drove 600 miles (about 1050 km) on Wednesday for my day trip to West Virginia.

Living on flat coastal prairie, I empathize. Some thoughts:
An ultra-wide-angle lens can be quite useful for shooting in crowded urban areas, at very close range. By getting very close to the subject, random people are less likely to walk in between the shooter and the subject. Wider-angle lenses allows hand-held shooting at relatively low shutter speeds, which facilitates hand-held urban shooting, in low light. I did not take a tripod with me, during a road trip that included Washington, D.C., for example. I used a 14-24mm f/2.8 lens, on a DSLR, for night shooting, in the National Mall area, where most of the monuments and memorials are located.
Coastal areas can offer sand dunes, that change appearance each time a substantial wind blows.
Places that offer good passenger train service make it possible to reach interesting landscapes, without the fatigue of having driven a vehicle. My area of the USA is quite limited in passenger train service, so, driving or flying is more necessary.
A lens does not eat much, so, costs nothing to keep, if one has a dry place to store it.

Always a surprise to see small 300g lenses give way to zoom lenses. Especially when they have that Voigtlander character of showing high and well-graded colouration while still appearing realistic. And yes, you can always find surprising and enjoyable compositions with this one - anywhere.

I'm really pleased with the results from last week's jaunt up to the Hoh River using the CV 15E. Also had along the Loxia 25 and CV 40E -- all got used frequently, but the 15 seemed to be the star (and "star-maker" . )

This is my the 1st post on the Forum, so hello to All!
taking advantage of Black Friday discounts I acquired Heliar 15/3.5 III for my Sony A7IV.
Would you be able to look at two full sized samples provided below and tell your opinion about the lens (I mean sharpness)? Shouldn't corners be little bit sharper?

Pierre, Love these shots, especially the first one. May I ask where these were taken? I feel that after seeing your beautiful work on this forum for so many years that I must visit Poland with my camera, and my wife; maybe that's the wrong order but don't tell her

Thank you. . The first picture was taken inside of the orthodox Church of Saint Cyril and Methodius in my home city Wrocław,the capital of Lower Silesia , South-Western Poland.
BTW: You can always excuse yourself by telling your wife that camera first will serve as a mechanical, protective measure of her coming next.
