So actually Choppy performs better more wide open than the WATE . See to me it's not always about F 8 because I'm not always shooting landscape. So I'm better off with the Cv15 and the Loxia 21 since they start out better at wider apertures. Thanks Guy

So folks know Camera quest is the west coast distribution hub and Photo Village is the East coast. Seriously at this point I would buy directly from them. Like Fred said we have no idea if there selling copies that are returned to Amazon and other retailers. But maybe buying direct is the best way. Hell call them first , tell them there is a damn good chance you will be playing the lottery. Point to this thread , it has become the only true source of reliable data US users.
Guy, have you ever bought from Photo Village and had to return an item? I was thinking about walking over to their shop on Thursday to pick up a copy, but just found this bit of policy on their website: "In the rare instance that new or refurbished (known as "demo" or "certified pre-owned") gear must be returned, a 20% restocking fee is charged." I will of course talk to them myself, just wondering if they've waived that for anyone else. If the corners are junk hopefully they wouldn't charge the customer for a manufacturing problem.

Thanks Guy. Please note, the WATE performs fine wide open - except for its extreme corners.
There Choppy is ahead. Choppy also is sharp across the image until diffraction sets in.
So, Choppy is a keeper for me and if anybody wants to sell an excellent Choppy E, I am first in line.

I have dealt with Photo Vilkage but never returned anything. Good shop but you can buy through Amazon and pick them as the retailer and you can go through Amazons return system. I would do that if the store itself charges a restocking fee. I did not see that on Amazon. You guys should call them tell them about this thread and see if they will work with you as frankly this QC is bad and should not be considered our fault for not wanting it.

Thanks Chuck...I love my Loxia 21, and I'm hoping for a 28 down the road. In a parallel universe though I could see me loving the WATE. Again, it seems really wonderful that there are so many options now. More and more are popping up every month.
In my limited use, the CV seems to fulfill the the need for which it had been intended. But I can understand an all in one solution is very powerful. Especially with some of the QC challenges at play here.

I will return the lens. My third sample will arrive tomorrow. Quite frustrating.

Hi Boris,
That really sucks for all of you having to test and return so many copies. CV is going to have a real problem with all of these returned lenses and their QC.

Wow, this winner to loser ratio is horrendous. What is amazing is how the bad ones seem to be very consistent in their performance. It's almost like the good ones accidentally slipped through.

I remember a way of doing this, which I never had the "courage" of doing it though. I simply couldn't do it although some folks apparently do it on a regular basis. You buy 3-5 copies of the lens at the same time. You test them one by one, pick the best and return the rest. Of course, if all of them are bad, you go back to square one .
