Alright, here's my not get best quality contribution to what my corners look like on my 15/4.5 -III VM
First the whole scene,
Center at f/4.5 & f/8
Upper Left at f/4.5 & f/8
To my eye nothing significantly changes out at the far corners upon stopping down. So if you have good corners wide open they are going to stay good. If you have bad corners wide open, they are going to stay bad. What would be wrong with a lens that would not allow the corners to improve upon stopping down?
My copy seems well centered to I did not show the other corner as it barely changes as well.
These were hand held and not critically focused most likely, but this is what I get focusing at 100% magnification using the EVF.

Looks pretty good. Great to see
Yeah, I was just looking at the Choppy corners and my copy seems to be comparable - nothing like what Fred has been showing. I usually don't have such good luck with these types of things.
Perhaps we need to start tracking serial numbers to see if there was a point in the SN order that corners started getting bad . . .? I bought mine on August 2015 . . . need to look up the serial number.

Looks nice jhinkey,
It's very hazy but it's still pretty obvious your copy is not smearing at the corners.
Like Guy you have been saying your copy was good and it is. Don't sell it.

May 29 I posted it earlier in the thread. I believe it was that date. I bought mine from cameraquest. I remember me telling you to get one as you where looking for small , lightweight and wide. I loved mine from day one, now we know why. Lol

I'll take a chance on the E version as I like not having to hassle with adapters and I like having EXIF data. If the corners are mush then I can exchange it until I get one that's acceptable. Seems there is some QC problems at CV.

Well that was a worthwhile exercise. I'm actually very surprised at how good the FE 16-35 held its own compared to the CV 15 III and even the Loxia 2.8/21. The Loxia 2.8/21 still out shines both of these other lenses but given the 15mm and 16mm focal length I'm thinking I have a couple of decent versions of both of these lenses. I have the Batis 18mm on order so I'll be interested in doing a similar comparison when that arrives. It is really hard to understand the sample variations that exits. Fred certainly had a couple of bad samples that he tested. I wanted to sell my CV 15 III M-version and get the native E-mount version but now I hesitate to go back into the lens lottery! ...Show more →
A good copy of the 16-35 f/4 is really, really impressive for an UWA zoom, particularly on the wide side. I might switch to the Batis 18mm if it outperforms at f/2.8-f/4 for the aperture and small size reduction. But this is the first zoom I've touched in a decade that I actually like.
The main advantage to the V15E, from where I sit, is the minimal size, with a close follow re sun stars.

Am I wrong or are the fe16-35 files only aps-c format? I downloaded the RAW files and found only 18.3Mp.
I mean in the previous comparison between the zoom and the VC.

Here is a shot from my deck just hand held, not really easy to compare to the shots of houses and building. This is at f/8. This is processed via Photo Ninja...I'm not a huge Lightroom fan.
