Haida makes a very good ND filter . I used them on my tech cam and it was very neutral with no color cast . Plus they are far less expensive. I had a 6 and a 3 stop.
I'm using breakthrough photography filters now but I need to get 82 CPL and A ND 6 stop. I also need to rob a bank to do it. Not cheap stuff. I think they need a Pro to shoot there products. Arm up waving hand. Lol
Only problem you would have is at 24mm which only can take one filter because it would vignette with two. Have not tried it but if two at once maybe 28mm. For my hood I use two empty 82 slim filter rings and it does not vignette at 24mm
I'm running out this morning with a Sony 28 and Loxia 50 to check against the 24-70. Just got these two lens s and want to make sure they are okay so go do my wall test. Post later today to add to review. I bought the 28 for my A6300 but it can serve as backup too for the A7rII. I did not have much luck before with this lens. Maybe I'll get a surprise.also I'm curious about the Loxia 50 as my zoom 50 is really good so like to see that.
It might take two filters if you carefully file away threads from the one on top of the stack. Nikkor 16-35/4 didn't take two ultra slims but it handled one ultra slim + one ultra slim without threads just fine.
But, if Breakthrough comes out with the Dark CPL (whatever the name) there might be the solution.
From 100x100 filters sets I can only recommend Haida's 100x100 square set. They have an unique CPL which is VERY slim and is screwed on to sit between the lens and the square filters. This way I could stack CPL + 2 square filters with nikkor 16-35/4 and got zero vignette.

If I put two regular empty rings on it vignettes at 24 and goes away around 30 completely that's with the lens profile. I could test this since I have a variety of empty rings in slim and regular. You maybe able to grind down the 2nd filter ring and it may work it would maybe work better if let's say one of your filters was slim to begin with. Like a slim CPL
Some of these filters from different brands have different thickness too. It's going to take some playing around and your going to have to use the lens profile as well because that does help cut into the frame. I would anyway but just a note on that. I have yet to try all this on a tripod and test the waters though. Plus don't have my filters yet just going by the empty rings I bought to make a hood. Hate that OEM hood and I did mention a Kalt 85mm slip on cap works great on the filter rings , so for 12 dollars you get a nice lens cap. Only lens I have one on because the front element is pretty close to the end of the barrel.

Personally after try the Lee filters and the Haida I will not be buying a Lee filter again. Maybe there foundation kit but for ND certainly the Haida and CPL. Now these where all used on MF tech cams and MF backs , which the Haida was the only one I found to be neutral. Lee big stopper sucked with th color balance. You can fix it but it does affect other colors when WB. Okay of to testing

I strongly agree about Haida. All my ND filters are Haida Pro II MC series and they are extremely neutral & quality glass. To my knowledge 100x100 and 150x150 are also the same glass and coatings.

I have no experience of their filters but am waiting for the Dark CPL which no one else plans to produce.
So, can only speak for Haida but there is a but. Be sure that your Haida is MCII Pro series before purchasing. I accidentally bought one ND400 82mm Haida ND and it was their old series and kind of sucked due to extremely warm coloring.

given that it's difficult to impossible to focus / meter with a strong ND filter in front of the lens, aren't square filters easier to use - it seems screwing a filter on after you've metered/focused/composed is more of a pain than sliding down a square filter. plus, there are no vignetting issues.
Holy Cow i did not know they did come in screw in mounts. I was using 100mmx100mm square glass. Im sure its exactly the same. Im so sorry I did not catch that

My screw up as i did not know they had screw ins only 100x100 and 150x150
So which 6 stop ND do you have as I may get the Haida, Cheaper for sure
