A beautiful set ob images and an excellent job, Kirk! All come together beautifully: the light, the clarity, the bg the color tones and detail. And having a pretty and elegant subject makes it almost perfect

These are quite good Kirk. The bird is a fave of mine too, and a real beauty. Well done.
Yes, these birds along with the Black-necked Stilts are so beautiful and a real treat to watch and photograph. Thanks for the kind and encouraging words Ken.
Fantastic, Kirk! These are beautifully done, from concept to finished art (and they all qualify as that). An absolute pleasure to view. Glad you had a good day out doing what you love doing!

I always know that I'm going to see something special when I open a presentation thread by you, Kirk! This one certainly doesn't disappoint. I've never seen an avocet myself, but your images (in this thread as well as previous ones) convey a certain elegance about them through the combination of the bird's own beauty and the sense of serenity I get from your nicely blurred, soft backgrounds. Thanks for sharing these fabulous images from your favorite pond!
Mitesh,
Many thanks for your very kind words, they are greatly appreciated. You have described what we all attempt to do with our images, and that is to transport the viewer to see what we see from behind the camera, to look through these windows into nature and enjoy the experience. You do that with your photography as well my friend. I took about 750 images during this afternoon session and settled on these five to convey both the beauty of these birds in their breeding plumage, their feeding behavior, and the magical pond which is their habitat.
As for the nicely blurred and soft backgrounds, the shallow DOF at 700mm takes care of that as you know very well. I only run NR to the BG and never apply any gaussian on other type of blurring.
Your photography gives the viewer an intimate view into the life of a beautiful creature that one would not normally get to experience. I can certainly see why this bird and this pond are some of your favorite subjects. Taken together at the correct time of day, they produce images of stunning quality! WOW! I love them all!
Cheers, CARL
Carl, your kind words are very encouraging and most appreciated. You have experienced and described exactly what all nature and wildlife photographers hope to achieve... "an intimate view into the life of a beautiful creature." I'm thrilled you enjoyed this set of images.
