I agree when the body has been out as long as the D750 has been. We're probably not going to run into any new issues with it at this point.
Seeing the refurbished at $1499 I'd probably go that route because of combined resale value and Nikon NA service if you ever run into a problem.
As I understand it nikon USA tends to be more strict about greys than most countries, but yes at this large of a markdown it's probably worth it.
That's about the price I bought a used one for here on B/S and I would have probably done the eBay deal if it were out. It's a good price. Not crazy good, but reasonable.
Grey market new: $1299, USA model new: $1996, basically you are paying $700 for the insurance (warranty issues). Is it worth the $700 difference? Everyone has different risk tolerance. Personally I would probably get a used USA model for $1500.
I think its worth it...and there are several shops that will work on them no matter where you got them. If I could find a good used USA model though for around $1100-$1200, I would probably go that route first...but if not, I would probably buy a new grey version.
That $700 savings would make the D500 only cost me $1300.
It is no longer available for $1299 so relax everyone...
That said, I've bought five Canon digital cameras and two Nikon digital cameras over the last 12 years and have NEVER had a problem that required sending it in for repair. Of course, I've only bought two cameras new, which means by the time I buy a camera, it has already demonstrated itself to be problem free. I don't have life insurance either...
Can anyone even confirm that KEH and other independent repair shops can get the parts to work on grey market D750s? Nikon's website lists Nikon USA as the only authorized repair station. I believe this means other shops cannot get parts.
I'm not so much worried about warranty service for manufacturing defects as much as having someone (anyone) be able to fix a broken part because I had an oops and broke the flip out screen/dropped it/broke battery door/etc./etc./etc.
So has anyone actually had their grey market D750 repaired by anyone besides Nikon?
1) Contrary to what someone else in this thread has suggested, a grey market import is still "real." It's not a frickin' imaginary camera.
2) As far as I can tell, the Nikon refurb is only warrantied for 90 days. Almost feels like the retailer warranty (1 year, 3 years depending who you get it from) on an import is better.
Well it's not about the warranty but the fact Nikon USA won't repair your gray camera at any price. I was talking about this policy on another forum and they were flabbergasted. (I rarely get to use that word but it fits here.)
Anyhow I would buy a D750 @ $1299 no problem. Next time it comes back it should be $1199.

Has anyone bought from this seller before? I've heard getitdigital is good but their price is 1469. I am ready to pull the trigger but not sure about this seller.
I ordered one after watching the selling history of this body for past few days. They are selling roughly 30 units per day. Ordered mine on Saturday night got the FedEx home delivery tracking number last night for Thursday delivery. My first import purchase, keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for this thread by the way.

You say that there are shops that will work on them, but I have yet to find any in the US that will. Please PM me if you have a shop that will do any repair on a grey market D750
Received mine today. Ordered last Saturday, Shipped Monday and received today. Came in kit box without the lens, all accessories included except printed manual. Shutter count is 1 from my first click Sensor is clean. Very pleased with whole transaction with this seller. My upgrade from D90, at last my yearning for FF is over
Thank you SSISteve for starting this thread.
Here is another interesting thing I found out about this gray market body. I went to Nikon service advisory website to check if my D750 is affected, I noticed the serial number in the camera is 8 digits not 7 like normal Nikon serial#s. Advisory website also rejected my serial number saying it is not a valid serial. So I looked up the internal serial # from the jpg uploaded to exif viewer website (http://regex.info/exif.cgi). From the EXIF the internal serial # is different from the one in body tag and it is 7 digits starting with#8. Service advisory cleared the serial number saying this camera is not affected. It is clearly evident that the serial tag on the body is altered for whatever reason. You can simply tell how the tag sticker is not aligned properly and the low printing quality of tag itself. Anyway, it takes great pictures and Nikon USA is not going to touch this anyway. I just wanted others to know this.
Image of the tag is in the link below. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5w3mrjzxzulk8mn/IMG_0333.JPG?dl=0
After some further thoughts my situation is like this: http://petapixel.com/2015/08/14/i-bought-a-fake-nikon-dslr-my-experience-with-gray-market-imports/
I knew I took the risk knowing the camera is gray market but since it has a fake tag do you all think it will be an issue down the road? For example if something goes wrong will KEH refuse to service saying the camera is not genuine?
Do you all suggest to return the body and look for a refurbished or used deal? Seller's return policy says they will charge 15% restocking fee if they found nothing defective about the camera. Do you think having fake tag itself deserved to be called as defective? Sorry so many questions. Thanks for your time.
Regards,
