Yes, it's an import model brand new on eBay. I know this has been debated before but is there a price point that makes you pull the trigger on an import model over a USA model? This is $600-$700 less than US.

1299 is a very tempting price point. The problem is if/when you need service. Nikon USA won't touch it. Even if you want to payout of pocket for any repairs. I use my gear for work So for me it's not worth it. I'd rather just buy new. That way I'm not stuck with a paper weight if anything happens.

If it fails you just send it back to the company that sold it to you. Not as fast as a USA warranty, probably, but a much better deal for people who don't depend on a camera to make a living.

What Livlif said. Nikon USA is very bad in that department. Fuji for example, although it won't honor warranty for import model, it will service your camera for a fee if anything happens.

I would go with refurbished from Nikon for $1499. That way you atleast know it is real.

But if you do make a living with it, you need a backup, not a service department.

If you are opening a new business for example, you buy two off these and it cost you 600 more than buying a single new one that you'd be able to get repaired if it broke. And what if it breaks after warranty. How much will that cost.

I'm honestly surprised anything else is even a consideration when the prices drop to these points myself.

wow, the best EU price for D750 body is currently $2200 ...
(that includes 21% VAT but still ... totally ridiculous).

I've always bought USA versions but I'm more and more starting to think that going grey with bodies might be worth it.

Maybe I'm just lucky but I've never had an issue with a camera body. These aren't like lenses where you have to deal with sample variation in sharpness, decentering, etc and may want to send it back in exchange for another one. I'm also not one to keep my camera body for 10 years before switching though, so maybe that's it.

Yes, you get no coverage from Nikon USA even if you're willing to pay for it, but is this really necessary? It seems like a fair number of fairly reputable shops have popped up that will happily work on grey market cameras, including reputable places like KEH. I don't believe they're any more expensive or slow in turnaround time than Nikon USA.

Are grey market cameras covered for recalls like the D800 had?

I agree when the body has been out as long as the D750 has been. We're probably not going to run into any new issues with it at this point.

Seeing the refurbished at $1499 I'd probably go that route because of combined resale value and Nikon NA service if you ever run into a problem.

I would buy a good condition used one off an FM B&S post for even less than that.

$1665 now for a refurb and by the time you add tax you might as well buy a new one through greentoe for somewhere in the $1800 range

There are none on Buy & Sell for less than $1,500.

Where are the refurbished D750 for $1,499?

They were around $1,520 new in Canada recently, but the CDN dollar went back up to $.72 to the US dollar about 2 weeks ago. So we will have to wait for that to go down again- if it does. It is predicted to go lower due to low oil prices, but things change of course.

For the extra $200 I would go with refurbished from Nikon for $1499. That way you at least know you can send it in and have them claim it died from impact damage...

1/ There aren't any good used ones on the B&S for less than $1300. Not even close. And then of course you have a used one vs new one.
2/ Refurbs w/ tax cost almost as much as a new one from one of the big stores - Nikon USA lists refurbed at $1660.
3/ The thread that shows that Nikon has denied warranty repair to a US camera , claiming the serial # is not US, without providing a list of what is, shows that Nikon has no desire to help you out if they arbitrarily decide not to.
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1410760
4/ The D750 has been out for a while now. If in the off chance there is an issue, return to seller within the year.
5/ Sorry to say, but it seems an issue with this $1300 price for a new D750 is that it kinda puts a dent on the resale value of other D750s. There's no way I'm dropping coin on a used D750 - USA model or not - unless it is quite a bit cheaper than a new one, grey market or not.

Don't know what kind of retailers some of you are dealing with, but usually after 7 days, most retailers are not going to repair your camera, exchange it, or give you your money back. They are going to tell you to send it to Nikon for warranty repair.

Why do you Americans get so hung about grey imports? Maybe if the saving were only 10% sure, but at over 30% it's a no brainer.
