I see no one has started this thread yet this year. Last year it was started early enough that we had 4 weeks and were able to post one photo from each quarter per week. Seeing that we really only have 2 weeks left in the year I would propose that we could still break it up into quarters like last year and post 2 quarters per week.

So this week (Dec 16-22) we can post our single best/favourite shot from Jan-Mar and Apr-Jun.
Then next week (Dec 23-31) we can post our shots from Jul-Sep and Oct-Dec.

You can post 2 images at once or do two separate posts separated by however long you want in the given week. Or if you choose post all 4 of your images at once but then refrain from posting again.

I will start with my favourite from Jan-Mar and welcome the first contributors. I know it was always a fun thread and we get to see some amazing imagery.

This shot was my first time catching the nesting eagles mating.

EDIT: Removed my Q1 shot so it isn't always showing up in the recent/active photos. I'll add it to my 2nd post for longevity.

Thanks so much for taking the bait Geoff

...I am particularly undecided about what direction to go for this year's images. But as a first I picked the one specie I had hoped to see whilst in Uganda and was very lucky to have seen not one but two.
Geoff and Tim have put the bar up much too high for me but here is my effort as a bird photographer.

Also a down year photographic year for me. The move April move to LA and adjustment to my new, traffic-congested digs made things tough for the middle 6 months of the year. I just can't get out of the sprawl during the week like I could in Boston, so I am relegated to weekends now. Being a working stiff sucks.....

Thanks for getting this rolling Geoff, its always great to see what folks have cranked out this past year!

Great contributions Tim, Eric and Dorian. Lets keep them coming everyone.

Tim: Super detail, dynamic shot.
Eric: Great framing of all the green foliage in foreground and background to highlight that rare subject.
Dorian: Love the composition and the overall brown and white tone to the image in foreground and background with the splash of red added in.

Uh... yeah, so I'm not even going to try to follow Dr. Geoff and Mr. Kuhn with any eagle images after the rip-roaring start they've gotten us off to, so I'll go for a black bear image

It's always hard to pick, but I'm going to go with this one for Jan-Mar. I'm a sucker for reflections, and the sunrise colors on the water in this one got my attention.

I've been looking forward to this thread all year! (That's my excuse for posting so little this year).

It's both a pleasure and inspiration to see these images, in part for their aesthetic appeal and in part for the wonderful FM community. Geoff, Morris, TK, Eric, mitesh, and others...thanks so much for making FM such a terrific place to learn, admire, respect, and enjoy!
