p.36 #1 · Leica SL images and specs. Looks somehow familiar...

Hello everyone,
I had the opportunity yesterday to hold hands for the first time the Leica-SL. This is a camera that feels good Leica strength. I have not tested nor any field or on its ergonomics. I just dwelt on the electronic viewfinder (EVF), essential criteria for me.
The impression is very good, the shutter sound is nice and refreshing in ample ambient light very efficient. Although I found this feeling of enjoying an optical viewfinder (OVF), the actual optical viewfinder remains my favorite for shooting in favorable situation. Nevertheless, the Leica SL EVF is unparalleled in the category of digital 24x36 when I write these lines: flexibility of use "available light" shooting by "focus peaking" takes over the OVF, undoubtedly. The color rendering of the electronic viewfinder seemed "cold" however.
Compared to A7RII camera, quality EVF is obviously excellent. Sony EVF is execrable, the lamentable refresh is unusable and very tiring ... The price of the Leica SL is too deterrent for me to invest. So, I'm waiting for the next Leica SL mkII somehow flanked by a Leica / Sony sensor at Sony price ...

In case this is of interest, LensRentals have published a fairly extensive teardown of the 24-90.

Wow, focus by wire, not a lens even vaguely on my radar but that's a surprise to me.

The S lenses are also focus-by-wire.

I've been using a loaner SL since early February (I'll have to send it back by the end of the month ) and have compared it with the Sony a7II. There are many differences in the operation of these two cameras and I wish I could put about 10% of the a7II into the SL to make the perfect camera. Unfortunately that 10% includes IBIS which I am finding is critical when using my long lenses.

No the S lenses are not focus by wire. The Q is (though beautifully implemented).

Hi,
you must be young, because you don't mind waiting for the SL II .
This could be 3 years. And after half-time in life (about 40), the years get "shorter" and more valuable.
So for me three years was too long, so I bought the SL.
Now, after several months I have enough experience with it, to talk seriously about it. But I have the impression that this thread is now completely dried out ... no more interest for this old stuff ;-)
