...PS.
BTW, have you noticed any differences in colour shift caused by Kolari mod that varied between mod versions and cameras, especially A7R2M sensor vs. 'older' Sony sensors?
I have been using the 2nd gen. glass so can't comment on the difference between mod versions (this A7RII.Mod has the 2nd gen. glass). I have not compared the A7RII to A7S to assess the difference in color response, but I'll do that.

Thanks, here you go. I picked WATE, 16 mm, f/8.
I will upload two images. First Hiep's image. Then mine with the different profile.
K-H.
I'd be interested in seeing that A7Rii image with the v2 CamreraRaw profile I posted (go back in this thread) or if someone wants to send me a link to the RAW file I can try it myself. I only have an A7 body.

Thanks,

Thanks. So I downloaded these files
A7M v2 Leica DI.dcp
A7M v2 Zeiss DI.dcp
and stuck them into the same place on my Mac where I put
Sony ILCE-7RM2 Kolari.dcp
I see the last one listed under profiles, but not the first two.

Michael, can you change the tag of your profile to A7RII? Using dcptool. Thank you.

What do I do wrong?
Thanks, K-H.
K-H, the profile is tagged as A7's profile so it would not appear on the profile list for the A7RII. You have to use tool like "dcptool" to change the tag to A7RII. I have not done this myself so I can't help on this.

Thanks Hiep. If Michael could change the tag and repost with a different name I could give it a try.
p.5 #9 · Kolari Mod's Improvements: A Summary of Tests
For M lenses above 90mm, there is no visible degradation. The 50 APO has similar degradation as the 75 APO (very slight) on the stock A7RII.
To conclude our tests, we are showing only the most significant difference on SLR lenses (Leica R lenses and a couple of others). In general, wide angle lenses at their widest aperture would see slight haziness, probably due to slight increase in astigmatism.
Left - Kolari.Mod A7RII, Right - Stock A7RII
1st Crop: 28mm f/2.8 from the Leica R 28-90 f/2.8-4.5
2nd Crop: 24mm f/3.5 from the Minolta 24-35 f/3.5

First of all thank you so much for Hiep - you have done so much for posting these.
Second, is there any tests with Super-Elmar-M 21mm and A7r II_Mod? So far I have not seen any. If I would have to guess we see as dramatical improvements as with Elmarit-M 21mm.
I am really starting to be tempted by A7r II_Mod, assuming Super-Elmar 21mm improves, as my M 240 leaves something to be desired as a landscape camera...

Thank you. We don't have the SEM 21 to test. However, you can check the first post on the first page to see the results on the A7 and A7R. I believe that lens should perform beautifully on the A7RII, just not sure if there is any residual field curvature or not. I tested the Elmar 24, and that lens is sharp WO with no residual FC.

I am curious now how the A7r2.Kolari.mod performs for a short or even the close focus distance of a lens.
Hmm.
Regards, K-H.
K-H, interesting tests. Short to close focus distance tests require perfect alignment between the test subject and the sensor to have any value. That's why I shy away from that cause it takes a lot (a lot) more time. And at this distance, corner-to-corner sharpness is not as critical. Floating elements design lens cope a bit better than the normal one. I don't believe any of the Leica UWA/WA on that list have that (except the WATE).
With that said, I''m down if we can come up with a way to keep things in parallel. I do dabble with macro on my ZM 15 (max mag. is around 1:2.5), so I'm curious as well.

I'll say again, absolutely brilliant. Hiep, Karl-Heinz: thank you.
As an aside -- this is the largest test I've seen of various Leica lenses on a somewhat homogenous, non-studio scene. I hope that full versions of these images might sometime be available. (If it would be a matter of buying a used SD card that happened to have some images on it, let me know. )
Looking through the images again, I see ... and I might have simply fallen off my rocker from drinking too much koolaid ... but I see higher contrast with the Kolari mod, even when no higher resolution is apparent. I think that what I'm seeing is due to the (obvious) reduction in blue filtering resulting in (a subtle?) reduction of atmospheric haze. Before I think too much about this, I'd be interested to learn if anyone else sees the same thing.
This makes me wonder if there isn't any UV contamination here. Does anyone in the southern hemisphere have a Kolari modded camera who would be willing to take a test portrait of someone with half a face's worth of sunscreen? Personally, this would make me jump at the mod -- I like the way UV looks in images -- but it would be worth knowing about if something beyond visible is making an appearance here. Unlikely -- I trust Kolari to know their stuff -- but perhaps worth a look.
