p.34 #2 · Announced: RX1R II with 42MP sensor and EVF
Okay guys I do have it reversed. I forgot it closes first than reopens for exposure. I had it open than close. My bad. My uses and such are spot on though
Apparently my brain was in reverse early this morning. Age it happens.

Eagerly awaiting mine. I'm actually considering that if I do in fact choose the RX1RII that I'll pair it up with the RX100IV and it'll make a nice pair. I quickly eliminated the RX10II from consideration because based on size, I might as well keep the a7rII. But my reasoning behind thinking about the RX100IV are
- Uses the same battery as the RX1.
- For the few times when I need wider or longer than 35
- It would be used primarily outdoors and in good light, so maybe ISO 800 max. While resolution and DoF differences would exist, in good light and at or near base ISO the results should be satisfactory.
- 4K, even though I don't need it. But to a different extent, high frame rate such as 120, 240 would be fun to play around with.
- Silly selfie option would be nice for the wife and kids.
- presumably in a few years it'll still work and I can hand it down to my daughter to use.
If I do decide to keep the a7rII all this would be for naught, but strongly thinking of either an a7rII and a bag of lenses or the RX1RII/RX100IV combo. Practicality wise the first option is better and more versatile, but the second option is appealing to me right now in terms of compact size and light weight.

the tiny Rx100 is a very capable camera with IQ that punches above its tiny 1 inch sensor. You will find ISO3200 can be satisfactory if the image is exposed properly.

Why not consider the a6000? There are a several good quality, compact zoom lenses available. It's bigger than the RX100, but still very tiny. You'd get improved IQ with greater DOF and low light capabilities and world class AF for those times you need it. All for a price that's probably less (depending on lens) than the RX100. There are plenty used ones about as well.

I used the NEX-6 for the first 14 months of my first daughter life so it has a warm place for me. I had the a6000 3 times over but could never get it to replicate the shooting experience of the NeX-6, but most of it was probably in my head. My rationale behind considering the 100IV is the fact that it's truly pocketable. Don't think I would use it much, with the RX1RII doing most of the heavy lifting. But those few instances where I'm outdoors and need some additional reach or width and for creative video. The a6000 would require an investment in lenses and size and if I were going to do that I would just keep my a7rII.
But I could see getting the 100IV, leaving it tucked in a small pocket and only reaching for it when needed. Doesn't hurt that it had the same batteries as the RX1.

If you would want a 28mm (eq) alternative that can be tucked in a small pocket check out the Ricoh GR. It has a larger APS-C sensor than the RX100IV, a stellar sharp edge to edge prime, magnesium body, and even thinner than the small Sony. I find the IQ to be better overall than my Canon 5DII for large prints.
It's an incredible, tiny, imaging device. But to make it fit in jeans pockets there is no EVF (bright LCD only).
More and more it's becoming my favorite camera that's with me all the time.

I agree, the GR is a fantastic camera. As someone suffering from continuous GAS, I've had that one as well on 3 different occassions, lol. Lovely camera but for me the 28mm isn't my ideal focal length for everyday use and I couldn't get it to work despite trying. For street shooting it's fantastic but for an all around use the lack of a finder, tilt screen, and subpar video take it out of the running. I loved carrying it around with the small wrist strap but found myself leaving it home more and more because I prefer the 35/50.

True, but an all around APS-C camera with those features would no longer be the camera that slides in a small pocket without compromised IQ. I think of it as a sharp 18mm lens that happens to have a camera attached.

Wow, I was literally about to post "I hope Adobe supports the RX1rII by ship date". Great news!
They are fast, and this gives me hope that the 11/25 ship date is solid.
Now the long wait until DxO has a profile for OP10. Since it's only one camera/lens combo, hopefully it won't be too long.
