A little over a week ago I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time so to speak. Victoria Beach, MB is closed to traffic from May through September and so I do not go then. I do not feel like dragging all my gear from the parking area to the beaches nor do I want to deal with all the people there as it gets busy in the summer months. So now that it has opened I've been going as often as I can. I had been monitoring the forecast and aurora sites so I decided to take the 2 hour drive to this place. I am glad I did. I got a somewhat nice sunset but then was given an incredible aurora show. One of the better ones I've seen. You could even see the aurora before it was dark. I've wanted to capture aurora here for a LONG time. So glad to have finally gotten the opportunity. I do feel bad for the other 2 photogs that showed up to photograph the aurora as they arrived after this great show. It was still active after but just more or less a green glow in the sky. No dancing lights like these.
I am really liking all 4 of these. The first 3 especially are really sweet. The shape of the aurora in #1 is so cool, and I like how you composed it wit the rays of the aurora coming out from that rock. Just really sweet stuff here.
Very very cool ! I can't wait until I actually go somewhere (Iceland or Norway) where I can possibly see them. #1 and #3 are both great, both showing two/three colours.

Thank you very much Dan.
Well, to be honest, since switching to the a7r it is a love/hate with processing. The files are so much nicer but the larger files kill my PC. Especially mulit image panos with I do a lot of. I have a lot of processing to catch up on. Need a new computer .
