Really? Fuji has always done this. Olympus has just announced another major firmware upgrade for its E-M1.

Sony charges an arm and a leg to upgrade the A7R to the camera it should have been in the first place.

And they haven't told us how far back they will go: A7 II? A7S? A7R? A7? Fuji and Olympus go way back with their updates. We still have to see what Sony does.

And now Sony apparently introduces uncompressed RAW, while others offer lossless compressed RAW. I've never been bothered by this RAW issue, so I wasn't one of the complainers. Still, even

I have to agree. Fuji has been doing this, and doing it right, since before it was cool.

It is however very nice to see that Sony and other companies are catching on to Fuji's example of loyalty to your customers earns you loyalty in return.

I count Sony Artisan Brian Smith as someone who knows a lot more about Sony cameras/lenses in advance than the average Joe. He has the "news" on his website:

WOW !! So nice !!!!
14bit lossless would have better but hey, it's amazing !

Last question before ordering A7RII, will 14bit uncompressed work for bulb mode, and will it change chroma noise ?? This is what prevent me from changing my A7R to II actually ...

I believe precision loss and file compression are not related. We will still have the same 14 to 12bits regardless of file compression. Unless they update that too.

Excellent news for us A7RII early adopters. Hate to say it, but the A7RII is being picked up more than my D800 these days . . .

Here's hoping that they do, but I'm not counting on it.

Thanks, man! I was getting worried that it was a hoax or some cruel joke!

A note on Lloyd and Ming.
The both went to the Zeiss gig and according to Chambers both took only the A7rII because carrying anything larger on such a long and difficult trip would be too much.

well, to be fair to Lloyd, he has actually been reluctantly singing the praises of the A7rII a bit recently. But not Ming. And yet faced with real travel (and not even very arduous travel) what do they take?

I'm not sure I would describe that kind of travel as "difficult trip". Also, from what I've read around Zeiss will announce other products soon. I would be surprised if they were not shown there, but are still under embargo.
Maybe Zeiss showed them various products, some with Canon mount, some with Nikon mount and some with E mount and they wanted a camera with which they could use them all. Hence the A7rII.

I would imagine the A7II is on the list of "other cameras." As a first generation A7r user, I am not holding my breath.

But sure, this is a first little step in the right direction.

I don't see other companies listening to their customers the way Sony has recently. The A7R>A7RII changes were pretty much taken from these and similar forum pages. Kudos to Sony for listening to customers and making this most recent change in the first place.

Compared to other companies, Sony doesn't listen at all.

Agreed. I want to see a little "thank you for your patience" from Sony in regards to the older cameras for those of us who have been on board from the beginning.

+1. Fuji, Olympus, Samsung have all been much better at this than Sony. Sony prefers to add a few more features and release a new body rather than update the existing ones.

Pointing out a small handful of changes that haven't been made and spinning that into a tirade on how Fuji screws its customers and doesn't update their cameras is quite a leap of logic.

Sure, not EVERY requested change has been made, but Fuji has updated models more completely and for longer than any other manufacturer in recent memory. While the updates on the X-Pro 1 were mainly fixing what was essentially a broken camera at release, the X-E2 has seen many improvements over the years (with a bigger update coming in the next few months), the X-E1 and X-Pro still see updates, though these are less substantial nowadays due to hardware limitations. Meanwhile the X-T1 is effectively an X-T1 Mark III due to the v3 and v4 firmware updates, which not only fixed small bugs and improved performance, but added a huge array of features and an entirely new autofocus system. The camera was very good at launch but is substantially improved now. No other company does that to this extent.

Edited to remove unnecessary remark that I have since thought better of.

LMAO!! Fujifilm hardly listens. People have been asking for exposure bracketing greater than +/- 1 ev ever since the very first X100. That's how many years ago? Fuji *STILL* has not made this very simple fix. That's really listening to your customer base.

People have been asking for a *REAL* flash system for the X system since day 1. A flash system that would be similar in capability as Canon or Nikon. Fuji's response? A set of very poorly made knock offs made by a 3rd party with the Fuji name slapped on it.

Dont forget the whole X10 sensor
