Hey, guys!
Long time no see again! Been busy a little with commercial shoots but here`s my new series.
We`ve made it through the fence to abandonded buildings of ZIL Vehicle Facility in Moscow. I`ve decided to go for really unusual shoot and use direct sunset light instead of soft light I use all the time. As for model - I`ve tried something different too. Kaina is korean girl that has freckles which is really unusual and also she`s really expressive to my taste) The main point was to show the remains of old buildings of leading truck manufacturer of USSR as they are now - that`s why it called 'Echoes of USSR'. Also I`ve did my best to add cinematic feel to it.
Is ZIL completely gone as a brand? In my Army days in the late 60's, I spent a lot of time looking at ZILs and trying to identify them by type. You model also fits right in with Russian culture as perhaps a Tartar or Cossack. I might have used that term incorrectly.
I like the old buildings. If ghosts could talk, what tales they could tell.
Def. notice the hard light compared to the previous stuff. Personally I favor the soft light for this type of work, but still interesting captures here.
The lighting, the girl and the idea for the environment, all seems so easy. Truly excellent and refreshing. The girl is really unique, she expresses shyness and curiosity with her Eurasian eyes. I love each of your contributions, I smell different air.
The model is lovely, and the lighting is very effective in images 2 and 4. I confess that, while the images are very nice in their own right, I don't get "echoes of the U.S.S.R. from these. Having spent some time in Russia a few years ago (and in some very pro-communist areas), I was hoping to see a little more of the colossal yet obsolete, incomplete and often abandoned mood that so typifies many Soviet era projects. Or maybe a little more fading pageantry of that period. As it stands, these are very nice images of a lovely girl in a... conference room? Theater?
