I get off and on focus. Sometimes great and the worst conditions and sometimes not. I hope an update from Metabones, which is what I use works. I shot these by focussing on the brighter area and then taking the image or just leaving the lens set on infinity, once I knew what I was going to shoot.
Shot yesterday evening during my daily hike and the monsoons are doing their thing.

On image 2, see the lighter area along the horizon under the cloud with rainfall? I have noticed this a lot in digital, the transition has this lighter area. I have even tried burning in just that tiny area as to me, it isn't natural looking but it is hard to get rid of. The darker area to the left in the rainfall area is a cloud and not burn-in. ...Show more →
just ordered Metabones "T" adapter to check if "T", as some suggest her, do autofocus 135L and few other lenses on A7RII, that Metabones IV regular or "M" and others do not autofocus. I will check at the end of the week when it arrives.
I'd like to share an experience. I've got a7RII + Commlite adapter and a little pile of Canon lenses. Hopefully trying to make them work together I got such results:
All sets a7RII + Commlite + Canon 16-35/4L IS / 24-70 2,8L II / 70-200 2,8L II work quite fast and properly. Actually there is nothing to complain about. But! This damn but...
a7RII + Commlite don't work at all with Canon 35 1,4L / 50 1,2L / 85 1,2L II + Phase detect AF. At the same time they surprisingly work (very slow) with contrast AF in video mode only while I'm pushing down AF button. I wish they all worked as well as mentioned above my zoom-lenses.
PS. Thinking about Metabones IV-T. Maybe it is a way out.

I have the "T" version and it does not AF the 135L...Lots of hunting...

Fred thanks. I guess my metabones is going back then.
My A7R's contrast detect AF with the Metabones IV "T" works better than the A7RII's phase detect with the 135L. I am able to actually lock focus, although it's painfully slow using contrast detect. I would say both are pretty much unusable but the A7R AF is better than the A7RII with this lens.

If you change your A7RII in contrast detect only in Menu setting, is it the same speed on 135 as it is with A7R mark 1?

Yes, I just tested this.
If you change AF System from Phase Detection AF to Contrast AF, you will be able to acquire focus with the 135L on the A7RII.
However, AF is just as painful slow as before (A7R) without the benefit of the new phase detection AF. For those who already have this lens, it's an option though.

How's the flare control on the metabones IV t version? I have the fotodiox and while af seems fine(does not work with 85 1.8 or 135 2) flare is pretty evident

I haven't had any flare on a number of lenses with the T version.

Yes, I found that too...Oh well at least have one option for those who loved that "bokeh monster".

Just wondering if anyone has experienced a bad metabones adapter yet? ordered the MEEFEBT4 adapter from B&H and all I get on camera is: the lens is not attached correctly or is not supported. Tried twisting the lens or adapter slightly off 'click' to see if contacts weren't lined up or something.. but got no results.
I've tried it with 2 copies of the canon 50mm f1.2L lenses on the A7rii.
Just emailed metabones about it... has anyone else had the same problem?
UPDATE: found out that slightly untwisting the adapter from fully locked it allowed the AF to work great... guess it's time to see if i can get an exchange.

Had the same issue with mb4. Did not work for the first 15 min with any of the lenses. Then suddenly it started working and then now it works. I wonder if it is something like it needs initial charge for some time ? I have not had this problem with commlite adapter which worked immediately b

I wonder if metabones people can do firmware so my 135 worlks in phase method. I know they are working on it and I wish them luck
