I would be interested in hearing what mods you have done or how you carry this lens, when out in the field. Sure wish Nikon had put a slot in the lens foot to attach straps to.

EFC refers to Electronic Front Curtain shutter. I think some Canon, Sony and Panasonic have them. As I understand the shutter is electronic rather than mechanical.

You can buy an after market plate to fit the OEM plate. Really Right Stuff, Kirk Enterprises, Jobu Design all have versions. No lugs for strap but holes for an adapter.

First time birding for me, first time out with the 200-500 which I rented which gave us issues throughout the day, but was able to work through the issues as they came up.

Just came across a few shots from Australia's amazing Yellow Water Billabong, in Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory.... truly an amazing place to see a multitude of wildlife.... this male Comb Crested Jacana is left with the task of taking care of his mate's newly laid eggs....
