The outstanding images on this thread inspired me to get this lens.
Unfortunately since its arrival the light has been terrible!
Nevertheless, I am impressed so I can only imagine what is possible with good conditions and birds that are not so shy.
I am amazed that no AF tuning is required, shooting wide open using a D850.
Since all my bird targets were far away, it does well at distance, and is also sharp close on a brick wall.
The LBJ kept flying into my shop as I was making an Arca Swiss foot so I could use my Bushmaster. Big thanks to Will (TM) for demonstrating this fine tool.

I was surprised to see this today. On the tail end of this latest snow storm, this guy is all fanned out and working hard to impress the ladies, who are close by.

The water must feel relatively warm to these wintering sea birds.
On days when the air temperature gets down to near zero, they throw the water up onto the bodies, and frequently dip their heads into it, sure signs that the 37 degree Fahrenheit water, actually feels warm to them.
Today's conditions: Wind at 15-25 knots, gusting the 35 knots. Air temp 25 F., Water temp 37 F.; Windchill: about 2 above to -10.
